Taking the lead from impressive young Carl Berendsen II, Bobby Motts Jr. went on to hold off 17 year old Brandi Ford for his second 20 lap All Pro Series Modified Street Stock feature triumph Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. It was the final point race of the season, and the victory was worth $150 for Motts as Ford was a career best second ahead of back of the pack starter David Rosa. Gaining the lead after Jim Robbins crashed, Wally Kennedy won his second straight 20 lap Pure Stock main event ahead of Trevor Clymens and Rich Gardner Jr.
Lori Brown and Berendsen shared the front row for the 18 car Modified Street Stock main event with Motts drawing the sixth starting position. Berendsen raced into the lead ahead of Brown and Motts. Motts and Mike Mendenhall shuffled Brown out of the top three on lap two. Tenth starter Ford settled into fourth on lap five, and Motts made an aggressive move in Turns 3 and 4 of the eighth lap to take the lead from Berendsen. Ford used a low move in Turn 2 of the tenth lap to take second. Mendenhall also got by Berendsen for third, and a lap 12 caution flag flew for Chris Long. Motts chose the outside on the restart and continued to lead Ford as Berendsen raced back into third. Motts would hold off Ford for his second win of the season. Contact in Turn 4 of the final lap sent Berendsen hard into the wall, and 15th starter Rosa used a low pass in that turn to take third from Mendenhall as "Rookie Of The Year" Mikey Slaney finished fifth in front of new track champion Tim Spurgeon.
Trevor Clymens and Jack Stutzman drew front row starts for the 18 car Pure Stock main event with W. Kennedy starting seventh. Clymens raced into the early lead ahead of Robbins and Watsonville champion Sam Kennedy. A high move in Turn 2 of the third lap gained S. Kennedy second, but Robbins rebounded with a high pass in Turn 3 of the sixth lap for second and then went high around Clymens for the lead a lap later. W. Kennedy took third from S. Kennedy, and the top four cars had pulled awsay from the pack in a good battle as they began lapping slower traffic. A low move in Turn 3 of the 11th lap gained W. Kennedy second from Clymens, and Robbins clobbered the Turn 1 wall on lap 15 as W. Kennedy led S. Kennedy and Clymens back to the caution flag. W. Kennedy chose the outside and led his brother Sam and Clymens. S. Kennedy lost power on the final lap as W. Kennedy scored the victory ahead of Clymens, track champion Rich Gardner Jr., Dennis Leis and Jeremy Prince.
There were 28 Modified Street Stocks on hand, and Rosa pretty much clinched his third division runner up point ranking with his division leading 15th eight lap heat race win. Rosa's closest rival, Billy Fraser, failed to transfer to the main from his heat or the B Main with mechanical problems. Dave Wade, Motts and Todd Tadiello won heat races before Rosa came back to win the four lap trophy dash. Dennis Moore won the 12 lap B Main ahead of Ford and Chris Harless. There were 32 Pure Stocks for this event with eight lap heat wins going to Robbins, S. Kennedy and John Gordon. S. Kennedy also won the four lap trophy dash. Dean Plambeck drove his big Dodge to the ten lap C Main win ahead of Ken Rhoades and Sheila DeMotta. Prince won the 12 lap C Main ahead of Jason Ryan and David Freil. Rhoades would make it out of the B Main and finish tenth in the main event to move into tenth in points.
