Jeff Gibson outlasted the numerous cautions and 60 laps of green flag racing to pick up a $2,000 check from Las Vegas Motor Speedway for winning the Grand America Modified open competition race Saturday night.
"We had a good car. Everything was good," Gibson said. "It was a tough race, but we love Las Vegas. I am sorry about all the guys who got knocked out."
Gibson took the lead with less than five laps remaining when Wayne Miller and Brett Thompson tangled. Gibson was able to hold off Lynn Hardy and Darrell Krentz for the win.
In the Legends feature, Kurt Busch took the win over Bob Ruppert Jr. and Kyle Busch. Kurt Busch was visiting Las Vegas Motor Speedway during an off-week for the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series. He has won the last three races on the southwest circuit and is leading the points standings.
