MISS BUDWEISER FINISHES SECOND AT THE GENERAL MOTORS CUP AT SEAFAIR

(Seattle, Wash.) - For the second race in a row, Bernie Little's Miss Budweiser finished second, this time at the General Motors Cup at Seafair in Seattle, Wash. Driver Dave Villwock started the race from Lane Three, but could not catch Nate Brown, who went on to win the race. Mike Hanson finished third.

"We did the best we could," said a disappointed Villwock after the race. "Nate was just faster than us...there was nothing that I could do to catch him. But I am happy for the Ellstrom family. They did a nice job building a new boat and have invested a lot of money to build their program.

"We were able to extend our points lead, so that is good news," continued Villwock. "Now we will take a few weeks to catch our breath...we've had five races in the last six weeks...and get ready to wrap up the season in San Diego."

Villwock was the fastest qualifier with a speed of 149.458 miles per hour ahead of Mike Hanson's speed of 149.309 mph. Villwock placed first, third and first in his preliminary heat races. Villwock has 36 career victories, four national championships and four Gold Cups to his credit. Little has 131 career Unlimited Hydroplane victories, 20 national championships and 13 Gold Cup victories.

* Villwock Maintains Points Lead - With only one race remaining, Villwock continues to unofficially lead the O'Doul's National High Points Championship with 738 points over Mark Weber with 588, Greg Hopp with 553, Steve David with 479, and Mike Hanson with 439.

* Next Race - The Miss Budweiser team will have a few weeks to prepare for the final race of the season, which will be held in San Diego, Calif. on Sept. 14-16. Last year, Villwock won the San Diego event, the fourth time he had done so ('94, '98, '99 and 2000). Little has 13 wins in San Diego (1966, '69, '70, '77, '81, '84, '85, '89, '91, '96, '98, '99, 2000) to his credit.
