Hubbard of Seattle Washington bested over seventy five other drivers to claim his first victory on in dirt in the Annual Labor Day Factory Stock Car Enduro at Portland Speedway.
Hubbard, a pavement specialist who has raced for several years in the Super Stock Division at Evergreen Speedway, as well as competing for several seasons on the NASCAR Reybestos Brakes NW Series, was thrilled with his first dirt victory. "I wish I would have done this sooner, this was absolutely the most fun I have ever had behind the wheel", an excited Hubbard stated in victory lane. Hubbard collected $1500.00 for the victory, with local Bomber champion Jeff Brookshire coming home in second place. Dan Walker and Brian Roth raced to third and forth place finishes respectively, with Enduro "Hotshoe" Mike Mikelson rounding out the top five.
Portland Speedway will close out the 2000 season Friday, Spetember 15, with a huge Stock Car Open. This event expects to attract competitors from all over the Northwest. Three divisions will compete in this event that will be a prelude to the weekly racing next year at the historic half mile. On tap will be the Outlaw Late Models, IMCA/Grand American Modifieds, and Street Stocks.
