On September 9, it was the season championships for the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Super Stocks. As luck would have it we were contending with the notorious inclement weather that so often bares its teeth and causes a rainout for our feature division, the late model Super Stocks. This was the case as the rains came and the main event was cancelled, with no chance of being able to make this one up. This was the final weekend for this class across the country, so all points had to be in to NASCAR by the 10th. The race had been so very close all season between 1999 champion Tom Moriarity of Monroe and John Bender of Arlington, WA., it was anyone's race. But in the end, it is John Bender as our new 2000 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Champion!

SEPTEMBER 16, 2000 SUPER EIGHTS & XTREME CONTACT F8

The Figures 8's, now being called the Super Eight Division, excited and entertained the crowd with their insane driving in and out of the most dangerous intersection in that crazy Figure 8 track.

During heats it was Teresa Houghtaling and Doug Wilkinson and the Trophy Dash was taken by Mike Buse. In the main event the excitement started right off with John Carlson, who started in 10th position in row 5, shot up through the middle in turn 1 of lap 1. In the center of all this was Mic Brown and Mike Buse battling it out for 3rd as John Boney was leading the pack, Doug Wilkinson was riding his bumper and threatening his lead. Points leader Steve Cox, true to his reputation, came from last position to the front of the field to threaten Doug Wilkinson's lead. It was an exciting race and the final results had Doug Wilkinson, of Granite Falls, WA. taking the checkered flag and trophy for his 2nd win this season. Our new 2000 Season Champion is Steve Cox of Arlington, WA., with 11 wins to his credit.

The Extreme Contact Figure 8 event was no less exciting. With this division growing every week here at Evergreen Speedway, it seems to be becoming one of the most popular events running here for fans as well as drivers. Jessica Wilkinson has been improving all year and becoming quite a threat to all who venture into that arena. She managed to hold the lead this evening till lap 18 when Guy Litts and Jim Foti were threatening her position and battling it out between themselves. Cole Ballard was one to watch as he had to dodge hits from all directions and had 'bare misses' 3 times in two short laps. By lap 21 is was Jim Foti in the lead with points leader Guy Litts breathing down his back. In the final moments, it was Guy Litts who took the checkered and Jim Foti taking 2 place as well as the Hard Charger Award for the evening. With 11 wins to his credit, it is Guy Litts as our 2000 Extreme Contact Figure Eight Champion.

SEPTEMBER 23, 2000 STREET STOCK BOMBERS & MINI STOCKS

The Exide ShorTrack Series Street Stock Bombers had 2 main events tonight. In During qualifying Gary Flammang's car had a major breakdown which took him out for the night unless he could find another car to run, which he did so he could maintain his points within the top 10. The B-Main saw Kevin Brown take 1st place with Darrell Fogelstrom in 2nd, (Morris Mueller and Tom Weaver moved up to the A-Main) and David Lamb placed 3rd. The A-Main was settled with very exciting competition between the drivers to make that checkered flag at the end of 50 laps, thus raising their point standings for the season. Dave Lund took the lead on lap 7 and in the past when he has done this, he acquires such a strong lead, he is almost untouchable. Tonight was no different. He maintained his lead all the way to the checkered and took the trophy for his 4th win of the season. Max Boyd placed 2nd, Ernie Conwell 3rd, Brice Christensen (1999 Champion) 4th, and Tod Simonson rounded out the top 5. Lex Johnson is our new 2000 Exide ShorTrack Series Street Stock Bomber Champion AND he has also taken 1st place in the NASCAR Great West Region with 17 starts, 4 wins, 14 top 5's and 16 top 10s.

NAT BARBER takes a sweep tonight in the Mini Stock division. It was an exciting race from the green flag. Nat Barber shot out in the very early on and Lane Sundholm riding his bumper most of the way. Mark Weedin and Keith McKenney were battling it out for 3rd spot and Chuck Richard h is presence very well known at their back door. In the end of the 50 lap main event it was Nat Barber with his clean sweep for the night as he had taken a heat race as well as the trophy dash. The 2000 NASCAR Mini Stock Champion is James Duvall, Jr.

This upcoming week is our Giant Demolition Derby and Fireworks Show plus School Bus Figure 8, 3-Car Train and World Championship Roll Over Contest and Women's Figure 8. Gates open at 3:30pm with main events at 7:00pm.
