NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES -- ROUND 16
NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY
The 1.333-mile concrete Nashville Superspeedway is a new circuit this year on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Following are comments from the Chevy Silverado drivers after the first three hours of optional testing today.
LANCE NORICK, NO. 90 AVENTIS BEHRING CHOICE SILVERADO: "The track really feels fine. It seems smooth to me. It's got a lot of grip. We've always had great turnouts of fans in Nashville, when we raced here at the fairgrounds. I think it's great that they have a new track here. It's very hot; perhaps they could run this race in October. At the track at the fairgrounds every year they sold out. There should be no reason that they shouldn't get a good crowd here. The track feels good. I was a little nervous coming in. Everybody said it's really slick here and there, but I think the track did some grinding on the surface. Whatever they did it seems to have added some grip, so it feels good. Hopefully we won't spin out this week like we did last week 20 times."
COY GIBBS, NO. 20 MBNA SILVERADO: "I like it. I didn't think I would after I watched the Busch race here. They were balling stuff up. It didn't look like it had a lot of grip. It seems like they have straightened everything out. They did a great job making it good to race on. I don't know about racing two-wide, though. That might be a challenge. It's a nice place."
