BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Diversity is clearly evident in the racing line up this Saturday night at Mesa Marin Raceway. The NASCAR Late Model Stock Cars will share the spotlight with the Ultra Wheels Super Truck Series and the STAR Formula Mazda Series.
Saturday will mark the fourth event of the 2001 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series for the Late Model Stock Cars. Drivers Kevin Vernon, Mike Duncan, and Dan Holtz have one win each so far, with Holtz leading the points chase. Brandon Miller, Duncan, Kevin Thompson and Rodney Peacher round out the top five in the points standings.
The Ultra Wheels Super Truck Series will make its second appearance of the year at Mesa Marin Raceway, with more than 40 trucks attempting to qualify for the 26 truck starting field for Saturday’s "Pepsi 100".
The STAR Mazda Series will be making their only stop at Mesa Marin Raceway this Saturday. The drivers will spend all day Friday in a test session preparing for Saturday’s 75 lap main event. The STAR Mazda Series features open wheel formula cars which compete mostly on road courses.
Also competing on Saturday will be the NASCAR Street Stocks, spectator gates open at 5pm, heat races start at 6:30pm, with racing beginning at 7:30pm. Adults $9, children 12 and under admitted free.
NOTE:
Shafter High School student Lance Wilson will attend his prom on Saturday night, but will leave early enough to be at Mesa Marin in time to drive in the NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Mountain Dew 75. Lance is 8th in the championship point standings.
