LAS VEGAS – Chiney Mangru smoked past Alan Ellis tonight to take first place in the Super Quick division finals for the second week in a row.
Mangru’s reaction time of .429 helped him charge his 1967 Chevelle to a speed of 147.15 miles per hour in 9.330 seconds.
Steven Bovel flew like a rocket down the quarter-mile in his 1986 Buick Grand National, edging Woody Railley of Scottsdale, Ariz., by a mere .016 of a second to win the Buick Grand National division.
Last week’s Jerry’s Nugget Casino Reaction-Time Bonus Award winner Sean Conner defeated Las Vegan Dave Phillips in the Motorcycle division.
Cruising at 109 miles per hour, Kirk Schroeder conquered Bill Muller to win the Sportsman division title.
Despite a near-perfect reaction time of .509 seconds, Chris Naffziger could not hold off Tim Arden’s 1967 Camaro. Arden ran 11.216-sec./136.57 mph to win the Pro E.T. finals.
Becky Landram drove her Triple J II 1969 Chevy Nova to Street division victory, defeating Mike Benefico, who broke out.
Having the best reaction times during a winning run in the evening’s first round of competition earned Bob Coulter (Sportsman), Mark Acton (Street), John Phlegar (Pro E.T.) and Dave Phillips (Motorcycle) the Jerry’s Nugget Casino Reaction-Time Bonus Awards for this weeks event.
