The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Super Stocks saw Matt Murphy take win number 2 this season after a 27 car lineup ran a tight race yet again tonight out at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe.
John Pierce (#47) took the Trophy Dash tonight and Rob Touchette (#15) took fast time and spun a 12 car invert which placed James Duvall, Jr in the #51 car at the pole position. It was an edge of your seat race tonight as the expert driving skills of some incredible racers were all trying the take the checkered flag at the end of the 40 lap event. Jack Wolfe (#30) ran a great race tonight holding his own and maintaining a good position with the likes of Rob Touchette, John Pierce, and Matt Murphy putting the pressure on from the green. Lex Johnson (#22 rookie this year) was one to watch tonight, as well, as he made a good showing and gave a few a run for their money. There was a caution at lap 32 where the race was extremely tight between Rob Touchette and John Pierce as they were running door to door with only inches separating the two. This was a turning point as it was so close to call, one would do the restart in position 2 and the other in position 3. John Pierce got the call and took 2nd place in the final lap across the finish line. Rob Touchette placed 3rd, Wade Archer took 4th and Jack Wolfe, Jr. rounded out the top 5.
NASCAR STREET STOCK BOMBERS
The Trophy Dash was won by Dave Lund (#10) and the B-Main saw Robert Argento take 1st place and Jared Alseth in 2nd.
It was a great night for the Street Stock Bomber Division and a fun race to watch. Tonight the lineup was based on points so all the faster cars started at the back of the pack and it was an exciting race to watch them all maneuver their way to the front with little mishaps. A very clean race. Victor Fort, Gary Flammang and Dave Lund as were trying to get back to the front thoughout the race with only one, and that was Dave Lund, making it to within 5 positions, but they were so close. Kevin Brown managed to hold onto his position and took the checkered tonight. Shane Landry and Ron Landry came in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. These two had started in the middle of the pack and held their own with a lot of pressure bearing down on them on every lap. Jim Risher took 4th and Dave Lund rounded out the top 5.
NASCAR MINI STOCKS Rookie Michael Johnston in his #37 green and black Sirocco held off the 18 car Mini Stock field to take his first victory in only 3 starts here tonight at Evergreen Speedway.
Dale Creager (#21) had the pole position tonight and led the race early on until such time when he was overtaken by the #86 of Tony Bunkleman. Bunkleman had a strong lead until 2nd and 3rd place runners Bobby DeYoung in his #21 and Nat Barber (#97) brought out a caution on lap 9. After the restart, it was soon Johnston (#37) who shot out in the lead and held that lead across the finish.
Mike Pease (#80) also had a good run tonight. Pease was in contention for that checkered when on the last lap his engine failed and he was out. Behind Johnton across the finish line was Scott LaCross in 2nd, Shane Thrasher in 3rd, Ken Jorgensen in 4th and Tony Bunkelman taking 5th.
The B-Main event tonight held an eight car lineup battling it out for the transfer positions. The moveup to the A-Main was utlimatey taken by the #36 car of Marty Marsolek and in her firt race ever, the #77 of Carolyn Constance. This placed the trophy winner in the hands of the #9 Mustang of Gary Hannawalt.
The top qualifier for the night (19.6 seconds!) and Trophy Dash winner was that of the #99 Scott LaCross.
