The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Super Stocks saw John Pierce #47 (1997 division champion) take win number 2 this season after 40 laps were ran here at Evergreen Speedway tonight. Pierce also had fast time tonight and spun and 8 car invert.

All in all it was a really clean race tonight with only a few cautions and no major accidents. From the green Pierce very ingeniously moved his way to the front by lap 20. As I watched, he passed on the OUTSIDE each time, gaining positions, which is not something I am accustomed to seeing all the time. The drivers tend to try and pass underneath, but Pierce managed very well with his tactics. By lap 20 he had secured the lead and held it right to the checkered.

John Zaretzke, who held the trophy and win last week out here and did quite well, I was told, was riding Pierce's bumper and was quite a threat til the checkered was thrown. But the lineup behind Pierce was with all the points leaders. The final outcome was Pierce in 1st, John Zaretzke in 2nd, Tom Moriarity 3rd, Matt Murphy 4th and rounding out the top 5 was Rob Touchette, who also won the Trophy Dash tonight.

Tom Moriarity in the #5 car had a good run as well tonight. He was in excellent spirits as I wallked through the pits and on a very dusty spin out in turn 4, he commented 'that looks like Moriarity crop dusting' and quickly hollered at me 'not to print that'...Well I just had to, it made me laugh. I like to see the guys in the pits having a good time, as that is what is it all about in the end.

I would also like to take a minute to welcome a new super stock driver out here to Evergreen Speedway. As I was walking through the pits and noticed a car I had never seen before, I had to stop and ask the lone guy working diligently away if he was the driver. He stated he was and that this was his first week out here. His name is Eric Wagner, driving the #94 super stock. He is presently out of Shoreline but originally from Tulsa, OK. He ran Open Wheels for 3 years and this is first try at the Supers. Please introduce yourselves to this new driver and welcome him. It is always hard to be the 'new kid on the block'.

NASCAR STREET STOCK BOMBERS

The Trophy Dash was won by Mark Moulaison (#99) tonight in the Street Stock Bomber Division. It was an exciting race from the green with the lineup being done by points now, that puts all the points leaders in the back. Kevin Brown (#82) started in 3rd position and was in the lead immediately. He managed to hang on to the lead right across the finish and taking the trophy. One might think that made for a boring race. Well, it was anything but that. With all the points leaders in the rear, it was exciting watching them weave their way in and out so precisely to get to the front end of the pack rather quickly. Dave Lund in his #10 car raced his way from next to last position to finish in 5th. Given a few more laps and he could probably have had the lead. Another one that was a force to contend with was Tod Simonson in his #07 car. He pulled up from 6th position to finish in 2nd.

Tod won the heat as well as A-Main event last week. This was a feat in that he had just come back following the big accident that happened on the final lap a couple of weeks ago, which involved Gary Flammang in the #92 and Mark Mouliason in the #99. Simonson's car took the worst of the damages. After talking to Tod, he said had it not been for the hard work and commitment of his crew, he would not have been able to make it back even this soon. HIs crew consists of his father, Gary Simonson (Crew Chief), Greg Smith (Team Mgr) and Keegan Simonson (brother). He was very appreciative and thankful to them for all their hard work and long hours. In this past race Tod started in the middle of the pack and had the lead by lap 3. Victor Fort was very close to him when he crossed that line.

The final outcome of last nights race was: Kevin Brown (#82) in 1st, Tod Simonson 2nd, Brad Sweeney (#65) in 3rd, Bill Eddy (#03) in 4th and Dave Lund (#10) taking 5th spot. Great Racing Guys!

NASCAR MINI STOCKS
SCOTT LACROSS, in his brightly painted blue, purple and yellow #99 had a Clean Sweep tonight taking the Heat, Ttrophy Dash and A-Main Win!

Scott LaCross had a winning night out at Evergreen Speedway. He not only took the Heat race, but then he came out and took the Trophy Dash and A-Main event, as well. (See I did not forget it when you won Scott!!!)

The balance of the evening was anything but boring as the Mini Stock division ran their 25 lap main event. In the end it was Nat Barber (#97) taking 2nd place, with Michael Johnston (#37) placing 3rd, Ken Jorgensen (points leader as of 5/19) taking 4th and Bobby Deyoung, Jr in his #65 car placing 5th.

Last week (as a recap) Jorgenson (57) took the Trophy Dash and A-Main. Twenty one cars began the 25-lap Mini-Stock A main. The #36 of Marty Marsolek had the pole at the start, but was soon taken over by the #17 of Stacy Allseth. By lap 5, the 00 of Chuck Richards closed in on 2nd place. Lap 6 saw a caution and when the field tightened up, several cars had come from the back of the pack to challenge Stacy for the lead. After a 2nd caution, the #57 blue Nissan of Ken Jorgenson took a commanding lead for the rest of the race. Bobby DeYoung (#65) followed by about 5 car lengths for 2nd. (Again my thanks for Amy Dudeck for helping me out in my adsence...my daughter's wedding....thank you again Amy!)

EXTREME CONTACT FIGURE EIGHT

I do not care if it is Extreme Contact or Figure Eight racing, it is never a boring race. How can it be when you have all those insane drivers going at MAC II speeds in and out of that treacherous intersection? Ane barely missing one another on most occasions and then NOT missing each other on many occasions. This week was nothing different except the lineup and winners. They were Tim Kramer (#18) taking the checkered and trophy, Steve Peters in his #30 Battelwagon taking 2nd, Geoffrey Chandler in the #21 in 3rd, Ed Gunnerson in the #90 taking 4th, and 5th position was taken by Troy Simianer in the#16. Perry Huffman (#03) took the Trophy Dash tonight.

FIGURE EIGHT

Figure Eight results were as follows: Steve Cox (#1) took the Trophy Dash tonight. the A-Main results were Ricky 'the kid' Deitz in his #76 placed 1st tonight, 2nd place was taken by Malcolm 'the Maniac' Lindberg in his famous #88, Doug Delfel held 3rd, Ken Schukar (#11) placed 4th and rounding out the top five was Harry Clements in the #34 car.

NORTHWEST SUPER MINI CUPS

The Mini Cups need a bit of explaining for those out there that are not quite sure what we are talking about. This cars are very tiny....the men have to get in and out of them through the roof and then they do not SIT in them, they LIE in them. I was amazed! They all have to run to the exact same specs, so when it comes down 'to it', it is drivers against drivers and not who can put the most into the vehicle. They all run GX 390 Honda engines, at 13 HP. The can only have a maximum 55% left side weight.

These are geared to being affordable and family friendly. The youngest drivers range from 8 - 15 years old. In this age range they place restrictor plates so they cannot go as fast as the adults. Once they reach age 16, they can race with the adults.

There are a number of racers in this division out of Canada and the one I spoke to and gave me all the inside scoop on these cute little cars name was Bernie Moore and he has two boys racing this series. They are Craig Moore, running the #21 and Scott Moore running the #17. There is also Patrick Phillips in the #88 out of Canada. They all ran Quarter Midgets together when younger.

The race results of the night were as follows: Mini Cups Trophy Dash won my Mike Allen in the #30 car. the A-Main was Kevin Harris (#14) in 1st, Mike Allen (#20) in 2nd, Scott Moore in 3rd, Rachael Mathews (out of Orting, WA) in the #43 taking 4th, and Patrick Philips in 5th.

The "Future Star" Mini Cups results were as follows: Trophy Dash taken by J.J. Hickle in the #20 car, and 1st place in the A-Main was hel by none other than the same famous Future Star, J.J. Hickle, 2nd was Cody Stewart in his #9 car, 3rd place was Mack Brown out of Sedro Wooley in his #96X car, and 4th was Cassie Dalgliesh, also out of Sedro Wooley, in the #86. There were 8 Future Star drivers here tonight.

Thank you drivers and fans for your continued support of Evergreen Speedway. Thank you drivers for your driving skills and entertainment and thank you fans for coming out and supporting our drivers.
