It was True Value Night at the Races with their huge hauler and the Bobby LaBonte IROC in place under the grandstands to test future pit crew and old hands at their speed at changing tires. But outside and in the pits, it was another story. The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Super Stocks had to pack it up and go home tonight as the spring monsoons hit the Pacific Northwest. And it was a deluge once it started. Many waited outside the pit gate to see what mother nature was going to do because we did see some sunshine, but those black clouds loomed manacing in the distance. I made a round or two through the pits, but before long those menacing clouds were directly overhead and the storm was on and the supers loaded up and headed out. Points for this division as of May 26th are as follows: Tom Moriarity (#5) leads with 275; Matt Murphy (#00) 246; John Pierce (#47) 242; John Zaretzke (#2) with 232; Robb Touchette (#15) 227; Joel Cox (#10) 218; Wade Archer (#16) 216; Jack Wolfe, Jr. (#30) 204; Lex Johnson (Rookie) 183; and James Duvall, Jr. (Rookie) with 142.

Once the rains came, it looked like a mini hydroplane race out there on the track with rooster tails on all turns. There were small lakes out there for the guys to run through and the Mini Stocks seemed to be affected less than all the other divisions because of their weight, but even they had some problems going through the turns. It was a different night, but not one we had never seen before. So with the history of Evergreen Speedway racing "Rain or Shine", the tough, hard-core drivers set out to see what they could do under the inclement weather conditions.

NASCAR STREET STOCK BOMBERS
DAVE LUND TAKES CHECKERED AND SECURES HIS 3RD WIN OF THE SEASON

In spite of the inclement weather pattern pounding on the asphalt tonight, Dave Lund in the #10 car pulled his way to the front again and took the checkered and trophy tongiht in the Street Stock Bomber division. The Trophy Dash was won by Victor Fort (#38). As of last week, Victor Fort is running 3 in the points standings with 295 to his name. He only has Gary Flammang in the #91 Bomber (See Gary I know your number) with 300 points and Dave Lund is points leader with 336 points. Shane Landry is in forth with 294 and Scott Mann in 5th with 291. It is still early in the season, but it looks to be an exciting year out there for this division that continues to grow in numbers and is increasingly more competitive. To complete the top 10 leaders in points, they are as follows: In 6th for points is Ron Landry with 290 points, 7th is Mark Moulaison with 283, Tom Ochiltree with 266, Bill O'Brien with 259 and Chuck Conwell with 252. (These points are as of May 26, 2001.)

NASCAR MINI STOCKS
LANE SUNDHOLM TAKES HIS FIRST WIN OF THE 2001 SEASON

Although the Mini Stocks seemed to suffer the least from the lake like conditions here tonight, they had their fair share of difficulties maneuvering the very wet conditions out here at Evergreen Speedway tonight. But in the end it was Lane Sundholm who secured the lead and the win for the A-Main event. The Trophy Dash was won by Bobby DeYoung, Jr., whom also took 2nd place tonight. The top five was completed by Tony Bunkleman in 3rd, Stacy Alseth 4th and 5th being Shane Thrasher. Points standing for the top 10 as of May 26th are as follows: Ken Jorgensen is leading with 255 to his credit; Bobby DeYoung has 255 as well, (very tight races this year, as with all divisions, so far); Shane Thrasher with 242; Rony Bunkleman with 228; Scott LaCross with 288, as well; Michael Johnston 217; Nat Barber 213; Gregg Saether 206; Kenny McCoy with 192; and Mike Pease with 180 points. EXTREME CONTACT FIGURE EIGHT
NICK NEISEN (#29) TAKES FIRST WIN OF THE 2001 SEASON

Extreme Contact Figure Eights were in their element tonight on the lake-bed. With all the rooster tails and spin outs, it made for an exciting night in both the Extreme Contact Figure Eight race as well as the Figure Eights.

The Trophy Dash was won by Ken Schukar (#11) (XCF8) with 363 points, who is only 2nd in points to leader Steve Peters with 397 points as of May 26, 2001 tonight. The A-Main event saw Nick Neisen in his #29 car take the checkered for his first win of the season. Brian Hansen placed 2nd, Steve Peters took 3rd, Kenny Schukar held 4th and 5th was Geoffrey Chandler. The balance of points stands in this division as of May 26th is as follows: Jason Britton (#74) has 326 points; Troy Simianer (#16) with 314; Perry Huffman (#03) with 306; Steve Woehl (#69) 284; Tim Kramer (#19=8) with 265; Ed Gunnarson (#94) 239; Bill Chandler (#22) with 231; and Geoffrey Chanderl (#21) with 231.

FIGURE EIGHT
RICKEY 'THE KID' DEITZ TAKES 2ND WIN OF THE SEASON

Figure Eight results were as follows: Rick Deitz (#76) takes 1st place, Doug Delfel (#01) 2nd, Steve Cox (#1) in 3rd, Teresa Houghtaling (#51) in 4th and rounding out the top five was Shane Sawin (#4). The race was a very exciting race with no one in a secure spot for that checkered until the final lap. Steve Cox and Ricky Deitz were door to door many times. Cowboy John Carlson and Malcolm Lindberg were forces to contend with out there running inches away from each other. Then you add Doug Delfel to the scenario and you have havoc, which in turn plays out to be a very fun race to watch as these guys go door handle to door handle all the way to the final lap and checkered. It looked like Steve Cox would take another win, but you never know out there, things change so quickly and in the end it was Doug Delfel who managed to out run all of them to take the win.

Points standings for the Figure Eight division as of May 26th are as follows: Steve Cox (#1) holds the lead with 412 points; Doug Delfel )#01) in 2nd with 394; Shane Sawin (#4) 359; Malcolm Lindberg (#88) with 339; John Carlson (#50) 297; Doug Wilkinson (#53) 291; Harry Clements (#34) 279; Mike Buse (#85) 271; Al Hauck (#89) 246; and Gordy Severson (#54) with 220 points.

WOMENS FIGURE 8

Last, but by NO means least, is the Womens Figure 8 division. Nancy Lindberg took the checkered and the win with Ann Marie Peters taking 2nd and Chrissy Kyner in 3rd. Way to go women!
