RACER CHARLES UTTS INJURED IN IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY CRASH

2001-06-20 Charles Utts, driver of the No. 66 Lucas Oil Monte Carlo is home recovering from injuries sustained during a Super Late Model race last weekend in the Food 4 Less Series at Irwindale Speedway.

Said Utts, "I'm feeling fine. I have 2 compression fractured vertabre. I will be 6-8 weeks on my back, but I have my computer and my health! "

It was reported that had the fracture been two more centimeters it would have been a paralyzing injury.

2001-06-19 NASCAR Super Late Model racer, Charles Utts, was released from the hospital today (Tuesday, June 19). Utts who had been the point leader going into last Saturday's race at Irwindale Speedway was caught up in a nasty wreck that resulted in a back injury. Our prayers go out to him as he begins the process of recovery.


2001-06-16 IRWINDALE, Calif. – Camarillo stock car racer Charles Utts was injured in a racing crash at Irwindale Speedway Saturday.

Utts, 39, suffered a back injury and a bruised chest in the crash. He was transported by ambulance from the track to an area hospital, where his injuries were treated and diagnosed.

Utts began the day with the lead in the track’s Super Late Model standings. He is expected to miss several races.####
