FRIDAY, AUG. 24, 2001 - The Star Mazda Series North American Championship will conclude Oct. 14, at the Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca, instead of at Lowe's Motor Speedway as previously published. The Panoz Motor Sports Group, which includes the American Le Mans Series, issued a press release Aug. 14, canceling the Oct. 20-21, weekend at the Charlotte facility. The Star Mazda Series North American Championship runs as a support event for the ALMS weekends. Therefore, the Star Mazda Series will now be an eight-race championship, concluding Oct. 14, at the Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.
