HOT STREAK CONTINUES FOR JERRY ROBERTSON IN THE GREAT WEST REGION OF THE NASCAR WEEKLY RACING SERIES

A winning streak by Jerry Robertson has him setting the pace in the Great West Region of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series.

Robertson of Arvada, Colo., nabbed his fifth consecutive victory on Saturday night in the Late Model division at Colorado National Speedway north of Denver.

The defending regional champion leads the standings this week with a Competition Performance Index of .8571. The index is used to rank the track leaders in each of the 10 regions across the country. Overall, Robertson has six wins and eight top-five finishes in nine races this season at CNS.

Jon Zaretzke of Snohomish, Wash., advanced to second in the standings this week - with a win on the .625-mile oval at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., on Saturday night. The former track champion has three victories and eight top-five finishes in nine races this year.

Jason Jefferson, who leads the standings at two tracks, is ranked third in the region this week. The Naches, Wash., competitor has two wins and six top-five finishes in seven races this season in the Late Model division at Yakima (Wash.) Speedway.

Shane Mitchell of Orondo, Wash., remained fourth in the standings this week. He notched his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval in East Wenatchee, Wash.

Fifth in the region is Marc Beebe of Forks, Wash. In addition to five wins, he has finished in the top five in all six races this season at South Sound Speedway in Tenino, Wash.

Completing the top tier of the standings for the Great West Region this week are Lynn Hardy of West Jordan, Utah, Rocky Mountain Raceways near Salt Lake City; Bruce Quale of Twin Falls, Idaho, Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls; Tom Pinkowsky of Vancouver, Wash., Portland (Ore.) Speedway; and Mike Zamora of Kennewick, Wash., Tri-City Raceway in West Richland, Wash.

The regional champions will be decided following the conclusion of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series season on September 16. The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series national championship will then be determined by a ranking of the regional champions using the Competition Performance Index. The top 50 drivers as rated by their CPI in the Great West Region of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series for the week of July 2 follows.

The regional champions will be decided following the conclusion of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series season on September 16. The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series national championship will then be determined by a ranking of the regional champions using the Competition Performance Index. The top 50 drivers as rated by their CPI in the Sunbelt Region of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series for the week of July 2 follows.

NASCAR WEEKLY RACING SERIES SHORTRACK DIVISION COMPETITORS TRY TO MAKE THEIR MOVE IN THE REGIONAL STANDINGS

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 5, 2001) - NASCAR Weekly Racing Series ShorTrack Division competitors throughout the country are attempting to make their way to the top of their respective divisions. Each weekend, ShorTrack Division competitors thrill thousands of NASCAR Weekly Racing Series fans as they seek local, regional and national recognition in the ShorTrack Division Competition Performance Index (CPI) standings in each of their regions.

Great West Region: Chris Leaf of Kersey, Colo., remains in the lead in the Great West Region of the ShorTrack Division for another week. Leaf, who competes at the Colorado National Speedway in Erie, Colo., in the Pro Truck division, has scored four wins and five top-five finishes in five starts this season. Shane Brim of Malaga, Wash., continues to hold second in the region. Brim, who competes in the Limited Sportsman division at Wenatchee (Wash.) Valley Super Oval, has collected four wins in seven events. Dave Lund, Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash.; Dennis Thomas, Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Rod Schultz, Yakima (Wash.) Speedway round out the top five in the Great West Region of the ShorTrack Division in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series.
