Friday The 13th proved to be a lucky night for Jack Stanford as he scored the victory in the 20 lap RACE Modified main event at Chowchilla Speedway. It was Stanford's second win of the season aboard his Stanford Chopping sponsored Modified as Steven Williams was second ahead of point leader Paul Stone. Following Stanford's lead, Johnny Cardoza led all 20 laps to win his first Super Street Stock main event of the year ahead of George Lefler Sr. and point leader Monty Tomlinson Jr. Double division racer Steven Williams maintained his Winged 362 Sprint Car point lead with his fourth win of the year in the 15 lap main event. The night's action was sponsored by Mariposa Chevron. Rookie Nathan Corn impressed with his six lap Modified qualifying heat race win. Title contender Mark Hamblin drove the borrowed Mark Condell car to a four lap trophy dash victory. Stanford raced into the lead in the main event at the drop of the green flag. A low pass in Turn 4 of the second lap gained Williams second from Tim Sprotte, but Hamblin raced underneath Williams in Turn 2 a lap later to take second. Stone settled into fourth ahead of dueling rookies Corn and Sprotte. A disappointed Hamblin suffered a mechanical problen in Turn 4 of the 13th lap as Williams gained second over Stone. Despite a late race caution flag for a George Conner spin, Stanford was not to be denied as he scored the popular victory ahead of Williams, Stone, Corn and Sprotte. Darrell Hughes made his first Chowchilla visit a happy one by winning his six lap qualifying heat race. Tomlinson Jr. won the other heat race, but he chased winner Hughes for a second in the four lap trophy dash. Cardoza led the main event from the start ahead of Lefler. An inside move on the front stretch of the third lap gained Tomlinson Jr. third from Paul Landers. Landers spun for a lap 14 caution flag. Cardoza led Lefler and Tomlinson Jr. on the restart, but Hughes made a low pass in Turn 2 of the 17th lap to take third from Tomlinson Jr. A similar move a lap later gained Hughes second from Lefler. However, a bad run through Turns 1 and 2 on lap 19 saw Hughes fall back to fourth behind Lefler and Tomnlinson Jr. There was no stopping Cardoza as he scored a satisfying victory ahead of Lefler, Tomlinson Jr., Hughes and Jeff Tomlinson. Attrition claimed Brad LeDuc during Winged 362 Sprint Car hot lapping and Roy Greer in the heat race. Williams was denied a clean sweep as defending champion George Terry won the six lap heat race. Williams won the four lap trophy dash and led all 15 laps to win the main event ahead of Terry, Jerry Cantrell and Joshua Lefler.
