LAS VEGAS – Mike Ray and Kyle Busch won 25-lap NASCAR Late Model features at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night.

Ray started seventh in the first 25-lap feature and had worked his way to second place by the halfway point. Ray passed race leader Steve Anderson on the 18th lap and charged home to victory.

“You’ve got to pick a line that works for you. I had to pick a good, smooth line and not get myself in trouble,” said Ray. “A good invert (the top10 cars were inverted) makes for better traffic racing and worked out for us.”

Kyle Busch set another new track record during NASCAR Late Model qualifying with a lap of 14.878-sec. Busch went on to win his second consecutive win and his fifth victory of the season. “I knew this Quality Motorsport steam would be one whale of a crew,” said Busch. “ It surely has proved it.”

Bill Newman, Busch’s Quality Motorsports teammate, won the NASCAR Late Model $100-to-win Racer’s Supply Fast Dash.

The Bullring was invaded by a 10-car “Texas posse” for the Hitchin’ Post/Exiss Legends Car main event. Four of the 10 visiting Texans claimed the first four qualifying positions for the 25-lap main event. Scott Anderson of Austin, Tex., captured the checkered flag, followed by Kelly Vinson and Gary Buchanan (both of SanAntonio). Local racer Spencer Clark finished fourth. “We (Texas competitors) drove a long way to come out here,” said Scott Anderson. “Hopefully we put on a really good show.”

Alex Haase held off points leader Joey Mogar and Joshua Gross -- who led eight of the 10-lap main event -- totake the checkered flag for his seventh victory of the season in the Bandolero division.

Glen Burke collected his sixth winof the season in the 25-lap Outlaw Stock main event. Chris Bray finished second, followed by Richard Kerr and Pat Petrie.

NASCAR Sunbelt Region ShorTrack Series leader Dan Fitzgerald failed to finish after being involved in a fiery five car pile-up in the first Grand American Modified main event. No one was injured in the mishap. Jerry Walton won both 25-lap Grand American Modified features, but results are posted as unofficial pending technical inspection and a decision by race officials.
