David Gilliland had the car to beat Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway in the NASCAR Super Late Model division when he turned a qualifying lap of 18.089, but no one could beat the winning driver as he powered to another win at his home track. Gilliland did not turn the fastest lap during race conditions that honor went to fellow NASCAR Winston West Competitor and third place finisher, Sean Woodside, but Gilliland was consistently fast and drove a skillful race. Tommy Fry, who also holds the honors of being crew chief on Darrell LaMoure’s SW Tour car, crossed the line second.
