FURR COLLECTS FIRST “A” MAIN VICTORY

Brad Furr of Pleasonton, Calif. was unstoppable as he collected three victories during the first night of the Mopar Parts World Finals Pennzoil World of Outlaws at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Furr, who qualified 17th, won his 8-lap heat race and Channellock Dash. The 25-year-old carried his momentum to collect his first “A” Main victory in the 30-lap event. Furr started on the pole and lead all 30 laps. Joey Saldana of Brownsburg, Ind. finished second followed by Danny Wood of Norman, Okla.; Steve Kinser of Bloomington, Ind. and Danny Lasoski of Dover, Mo.

“My guys did such a good job. I didn't have to do that much work,” Furr said. “I should go out and do some gambling. My luck has been pretty good tonight.

“The guys put together a real good race track,” Furr said. “It’s beautiful.”

Lasoski holds a 34-point lead over two-time Pennzoil World of Outlaws champion Mark Kinser after a fifth-place finish. The championship will be decided tomorrow night at the Mopar Parts World Finals finale.

Eight drivers broke the track record of 14.211 (Nov. 1999, Sammy Swindell) during qualifying including Steve Kinser (13.942), Joey Saldana (14. 002), Jason Meyers (14. 078), Daryn Pittman (14.095), Danny Lasoski (14.116), Sammy Swindell (14.121), P.J. Chesson (14.124), and Paul McMahan (14.202).

Saturday spectator gates open at 5 p.m. Qualifying begins at 6:00 p.m. Reserved seating is $30 and $35 for adults, senior citizens/military personnel/children ages 6-12 is $15 and $17. General admission is $25 for adults and $12 for senior citizens/military personnel/children 6-12. Children five and under are free.
