California Motorsports Corporation is pleased to announce that the Orange Show Speedway will be involved with three divisions of cars that will be available for the youths of Southern California.

With the recent announcement from NASCAR regarding the minimum age for drivers and crews being established at 18 years of age, it has been more difficult than ever to have the youths be able to participate with their parents in the ever popular field of Motorsports.

While the Weekly Racing Series program for the short tracks across the country remains at 16 years of age to be able to compete, many believe that it will only be a short period of time before this will be raised to the 18 years of age that NASCAR has established for their touring series.

California Motorsports Corporation established in 2001 a "Family Night in the Pits" program that was a huge hit. We were also involved with establishing a "Junior" racing program with the Tri State Mini Stockar Series on Saturday mornings.

The 2002 racing program at the Orange Show Speedway will bring back the Lightning Cup (formerly Tri State Mini Stockar) Junior program that will feature the Junior Division as well as the Half Pint class.

The Legend cars that allows youngsters (under 16) to compete with the adults, will be altered to allow only licensed drivers 16 or older to compete with the adults, however, the youths will have the opportunity to race on the Legends racing night in the Young Lions (Legends) and the Bandolero Program.

Totally new for the Orange Show Speedway local youths, ages 13 - 16, will be the ever popular Hornets Division. The Junior Racing League, Hornets Division, will compete when the Hornet cars compete, which will allow for a youth/parent to share in the same car the same night. The Juniors will be incorporated into the regular Saturday Night racing events.

The Hornet Division was chosen for the youth program so that the costs are minimal, while these types of cars are easily identifiable with the youth of today.

Registration, rules, reservation of car numbers, and more details on eligibility for the Junior Racing League (Hornet Division), can be made by calling the Orange Show Speedway at (909)885-5757.
