Taking full advantage of his front row starting position, Jim Perry Jr. went on to win the scheduled 25 lap All Pro Series Wingless Spec Sprint main event Satyrday night at Antioch Speedway. The win paid Perry $600 aboard his Perry's Machine Shop sponsored Sprint Car. Darrell Hanestad was right on Perry's rear nerf in second as Ricky Williams finished third.
The 25 Wingless Spec Sprints were presented with a rare time trial qualifying opportunity on John Soares Jr's fast quarter-mile clay oval, and Williams set the fast time standard at 14.642 as David Goodwill lost power in the final turn of what seemed to be a faster second lap and used his other time of 14.703 to be second quick. Third quick Hanestad used a time of 14.797 to get the outside front row for the four lap Trophy Dash and won that race ahead of Williams. The Spec Sprints ran fully inverted heats from qualifying with Brandi Ford winning her six lap heat race. Joey Santos made a final turn pass on Roy Fisher to win that heat race as Perry Jr. and Jimmy Perry III won the other heats. Losing the lead only briefly to Kent Bickford, Ford won the 12 lap B Main ahead of Doug Henry as Bickford settled for third.
Perry Jr. and John Buccellato shared the front row for the main event and quickly assumed the first and second positions as Scott Merrell ran third. Hanestad slipped past Merrell for third on lap six with Williams fourth a lap later. A lap eight red flag flew when Bickford flipped in Turn 3 without injury. The restart lap saw a Turn 1 pileup that eliminated Ford, D. Henry, Tom Heney and Bob Newberry as another red flag flew to clear the track. Perry Jr. led the next restart ahead of Hanestad and Merrell, but Williams slipped past Merrell for third with Goodwill following closely in fourth. As Perry and Hanestad battled closely for first, a good battle for third developed between Williams and Goodwill. Unfortunately, Goodwill hit the Turn 2 wall for a yellow after 15 laps, and the time limit expied at that point with Perry Jr. winning ahead of Hanestad, Williams, Merrell and Billy Fraser.
