MONROE, Washington — Saturday night September 10th at Evergreen Speedway there will be a tribute to 1st Responders with all Police, Fire, EMTs, Paramedics and Active Military being admitted free. The night’s racing activities will include Speedway Chevrolet NASCAR Whelen All American Series Super Late Models, Les Schwab Tires NASCAR Street Stocks and Foster Press NASCAR Mini-Stocks all on the 3/8-mile paved oval with just two races remaining in their respective seasons the points are very critical. Plus the new Extreme V-8’s and the Cub Scouts of America Mt, Baker Council Hornets 50 Road Course. The 1st Responders will have their own race with area departments pitted against each other. The front gates will open at 4pm and the racing commences at 6pm. Come on out and pay tribute to these great Americans.
"All the fun and appreciation begins at 6p with front gates opening at 4pm."
Since moving back onto the shorter 3/8-mile oval the Super Late Model division point’s leader Naima Lang has won only one of the last four races. Lang had a win streak of 8 during the season with most coming on the BIG track the 5/8-mile. Tom Hughes has won two of the last four including his first ever SLM win. Daniel Moore was the other winner. It seems as if the 3/8-mile has been the equalizer. Hughes and Moore are in a pretty good tussle for second in the points. Officials are still deciding which track the championship race, on September 24, will be run.
The Street Stock division also has two races to go to decide the 2011 division champion. Joe Kneeland has the lead. With the point structure, a bad night in the final two could change things quickly. Steve Ptacek second in the standings has Kneeland in sight and knows he has to perform at his best to close the gap. Brian Cottrell third in the points has been the hottest driver as of late by winning three of the last four division races. The Street Stock championship will be on the 24th and on the 3/8-mile.
Scott LaCross leads the Mini-Stock division point’s chase. His closest pursuer is Kris Harriss last season’s champion. LaCross will be fresh off a win this past Saturday night. The Mini-Stock division has fielded the most cars all season with an average of 18 cars starting each of this season’s mains. Their championship night is also on the 24th of this month.
With two races in their season and their championship race just a week away the points chase for the Hornet division championship is hotly contested between Troy Johnson and Cyril Greenawalt. The two have been victorious this season. With a fifty-lap road course feature on Saturday and again next Saturday a lot can happen. Third in points Jaime Corbett is very much in the hunt.
The Extreme V-8 division is a new bump-to-pass class that never knows until just prior as to what type on main event the will run. It could be a figure eight, flag pole, dual circle, etc. This division does not get points they run for trophies and the fun of it.
All the fun and appreciation begins at 6p with front gates opening at 4pm. Evergreen Speedway is located in Monroe, WA at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds. Evergreen is Washington State’s only NASCAR track. For tickets go to the web at www.evergreenspeedway.com or call 360-805-6100.
