DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — Another great weekend of ASA Racing on tap. There is open wheel action on the asphalt and dirt from two ASA Series and many ASA Member Tracks are crowning their 2011 champions.
Here is a look at what is happening this weekend.
ASA SANCTIONED SERIES
ASA NORTHWEST SPRINT CAR RACING ASSOCIATION SPRINT CAR SERIES
Meridian Speedway (Meridian, ID)
The fast asphalt winged sprint cars will be making their second visit to the quarter-mile track for two exciting days of racing on Friday and Saturday nights. Matt Hein holds a 23-point lead over Andy Alberding and a 30-point lead over Sierra Jackson in the standings.
ASA IRA SPRINT CAR SERIES
Superior Speedway (Superior, WI)
Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, WI)
The fast 410-winged sprints will be competing on Friday and Saturday this weekend. On Friday, they will visit Superior Speedway and then travel south to Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday night.
ASA MEMBER TRACKS
ACE SPEEDWAY (Altamahaw, NC)
Ace will have racing events on Friday night and on Sunday afternoon this weekend. On Friday, it is Fallen Heroes Memorial Night featuring the Late Models, Limiteds, Ace Modifieds, Extremes and Mini Stocks. Racing begins at 8:00pm. Sunday is rescheduled Madhouse Meltdown that was postponed from Labor Day. Pre-Race ceremonies begin at 2:40pm.
BIG COUNTRY SPEEDWAY (Cheyenne, WY)
Racing action is back on Saturday night this weekend. The Late Models, Sportsman, Super Stocks, Mod 4’s, Warriors, Bombers will be in action. Racing starts at 5pm. Adults are $9.00, Seniors are $7.00, Children 6-12 are $5.00 and children 5 and under are FREE!
CORPUS CHRISTI SPEEDWAY (Corpus Christi, TX)
The Dwarf cars return this Saturday night as part of the full racing program. The Front Runners, Bombers, Super Streets, Sport Mods and Gocarts will also be in action. Adult admission is $10.00 with children 12 & under getting FREE admission. Gates open at 6:00pm with racing at 8:00pm.
DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY (Bradenton, FL)
A full racing program is scheduled for this Saturday night. The Open Wheel Modifieds, Mod Minis, Flyin 4’s, Magic 4’s, Sportsmans, Pure Stocks, Trophy Dash Cars and Race Cars of Yesterday will be in action. Normal weekly and times are: Ages 13 & up is $15.00, ages 12 & under are FREE! Racing gets underway at 7:00pm SHARP!
DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Dillon, SC)
We will be closed this Saturday, September 10th. Our next race will be Saturday, September 17th. The Super Trucks will be on track along with the Street Stocks, Chargers, 4 Cylinders, Mini Cup Stock, 4 Cylinder Trucks and Flathead Fords.
EAST BAY RACEWAY PARK (Tampa, FL)
ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, September 10, 2011. The program will include Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, Outlaw 4s, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. It will also be Autograph night for the Late Model drivers.Weekly admission is: Adults are $12, Seniors 55 & up are $10.00, Teens 13-17 with ID is $7.00, and kids 12 & under are FREE with paying adult! Racing starts at 6:30pm.
GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY (Elma, WA)
The Season Championship for all of the divisions are this Saturday night. Racing starts at 6:30pm. Adult admission is $13, Juniors 15-18/Miltary is $10.00, Youths 6-14 is $5.00, Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 youths) is $30.00, and Premium ticket is $20.00.
HARTFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Hartford, MI)
The ASCS SOD Sprints will be in action on Friday night for the King of Michigan event. The Stock Cars and Pure Stocks will also be in action. Gates open at 6pm with racing at 8pm. Adult admission is $15, kids 10 & under is FREE!
I-25 SPEEDWAY (Pueblo, CO)
The Third Annual Grand American Modified 100 Fall Classic is this Saturday night. The Sportsman, Street Stocks, Hornets and Legends will also be in action. Weekly times and admission are:Racing starts at 6:00pm. Adult admission is $10.00; Ages 4-12 is $5.00, kids 4 and under are FREE!
ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Schererville, IN)
The 50th Annual Tony Bettenhausen Classic is this Saturday night featuring the Late Models in a 100-lap main event. The Street Stock Challenge Series will also be in action. Adult admission is $18.00, Kids 8-12 is $5.00, 7 & under are FREE! Gates open at 4:00pm with racing at 7:00pm.
INDE MOTORSPORTS RANCH (Wilcox, AZ)
Inde will welcome the Xcel/CCS SW Race Weekend on September 17-18.
LEBANON I-44 SPEEDWAY (Lebanon, MO)
The season championships will be decided this Saturday night for all five divisions. The Late Models will be competing in twin feature events.Grandstand admission is $10 for Adults, ages 16 and older, while Adult admission in tier parking is $12. Discounted admission for Seniors (ages 65 and older), Military personnel, and Juniors (ages 11-15) is offered in both locations. A grandstand Family Pass for 2 Adults and 2 Juniors plus any number of Kids 10 and younger is available for $25, while six Adults entering in the same vehicle on tier parking will be admitted on the ‘Budweiser Wild Side’ for $60. Following a longstanding track tradition, admission for children ages 10 and younger remains free at I-44 Speedway.
LONESOME PINE RACEWAY (Coeburn, VA)
Pro Cup will be coming to LPR this Sunday, September 11 for a 200-lap Salute to America race. Qualifying will begin at 1pm with the racing action starting at 3:30pm. Grandstand admission is FREE with $25 per vehicle to park. The Renegades and Pure 4’s divisions will also be in action.
MARSHFIELD MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Marshfield, WI)
The Fall Shootout is this Friday and Saturday night. On Friday, the Limited Late Models, Pure Stocks, Midwest Mod 4-Cylinders, Bandits, Warriors, and Cruisers will be in action. Racing gets underway at 7:00pm. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for students with under 8 is free. On Saturday night, the Super Late Models, Super Stocks, CWMSA 4-Cylinders, and Vintage cars will be in action. Racing starts at 6:00pm. Adult admission is $15 and $8 for students with under 8 getting free admission.
MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY (Meridian, ID)
The 2011 Meridian Speedway season wraps up Friday and Saturday with more championship action and the second visit of the year by the ASA Northwest Sprintcar Racing Association.The annual Tom Elliott Sportsman Classic presented by Cricket kicks off the two-day finale with the first NSRA feature and the first main event of the championship doubleheader for the College of Western Idaho Professional Truck Driving Street Stocks. The Edmark Mini Stocks and Tates Rents Hornets series titles will be decided, too.Saturday night’s Pepsi Championship Finale will be capped with fireworks, but not before explosive action on the track from the ASA NSRA sprintcars and the championship race for the Street Stocks. The Thunder Dogs return for their second-to-last race of the season, and a 75-lap Modified Open will be contested.The $2,000 bounty for the first 10-second lap by a winged sprintcar at Meridian Speedway is still in the offing, too.The gates open both nights at 4 p.m. with racing at 6:30 p.m.Tickets each night are $15 for adults, $12.50 for senior citizens and military personnel with ID, $11 for ages 7-11 and children 6-and-under free. NEWPORT MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Newport, TN)
The Super Late Models will be competing for the final time this season on Saturday night. The Street Stocks, Front Wheel Drives, Modified 4-Cylinders, Legends, and Mini Cups will be in action. Racing gets underway at 7:15pm.
NORWAY SPEEDWAY (Norway, MI)
Norway Speedway has completed their 2011 season. Congratulations to the 2011 Champions. Mike Reichenberger in the Late Models, Mark Jenshak in the Super Stocks and Fran Berube in the DQ-Dogs.
ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY (San Bernardino, CA)
A full night of thrilling racing action is scheduled for this Saturday night. The Super Late Models, Late Models, Super Stocks, Stock Car USA, Pony Stocks, Factory 4’s, Legends and Bandoleros will be in action. Gates open at 5:00pm with Racing at 7:00pm.
RED RIVER SPEEDWAY (Wichita Falls, TX)
The North Texas Shootout will take place from September 6-11. Six days of racing featuring Legends and Bandoleros. Gates open at 6:00pm with racing at 8:00pm. Adult admission is $10.00, Seniors/Military/High School & College students are $8.00, Ages 7-14 is $5.00 with under 7 is FREE!
ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS (West Valley City, UT)
Season Championships are scheduled for this Saturday night. The Sprints, Maverik Modifieds, Mini Cups, Ford Focus Midgets, and Hornets will be in action. Racing starts at 6pm.
SHANGRI-LA II MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Tioga Center, NY)
Shangri-La II Motor Speedway will be back in action on September 22 with the Fall Brawl.
SKAGIT SPEEDWAY (Burlington, WA)
The Skagit Supercross Series will be in action on Friday night with racing at 6:30pm. The seventh annual Flat Track World Championships are Saturday night. Motorcycles, quad and kart riders will be in action. Racing starts at 7pm.
SOUTHERN OREGON SPEEDWAY (Medford, OR)
The 360 Sprints will decide their 2011 championship this Saturday night. The Pro Stocks, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Thrill Cars will be in action. Racing gets underway at 6pm.
STATE PARK SPEEDWAY (Wausau, WI)
The second annual Fighting Cancer Full Throttle 75 is this Thursday night. Racing starts at 7:30pm. Admission is $10 with all you can drink tap beer and all you can eat corn until the end of the Packer game. Ages 6-17 are $5 and ages 5 and under are Free.
VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Jamaica, VA)
Virginia Motor Speedway continues in its efforts to help in the recovery process from Hurricane Irene. Currently the speedway grounds are being used as a staging area for Dominion Virginia Power line crews as they help in restoring power to the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck communities. Some 250 utility trucks are expected to call the pit parking area home until power is restored to the area. Racing will return on Saturday, September 17 with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
WILMOT RACEWAY (Wilmot, WI)
Racing action will return on Saturday, September 17 with the WDLMA Late Models plus Championship Night for the Modifieds, Street Stocks and F4.
YAKIMA SPEEDWAY (Yakima, WA)
Saturday Night at the races featuring the Burger Ranch Sportsman, H & H Furniture Pure Stocks Season Championship, CWI Security & EZ Credit Auto Sales Hornets and the Mel’s Diner Bump To Pass. Gates open at 4pm, opening ceremonies at 6pm side by side racing action to follow. Adults $10.00, 15 and under $5, kids under 5 free with an adult.
