Several 2011 Champions Crowned At Rocky Mountain Raceways 2011 Season Winds Down

West Valley City, Utah -- Several champions were crowned Saturday, September 10 at Rocky Mountain Raceways, an ASA Member Track in West Valley City, Utah.

2009 champion #01 Michael Hale secured the 2011 Maverik Modified championship over #00 Tyler Whetstone, in one of the closest Maverik Modified point battles in Rocky Mountain Raceways history.

“Tyler Whetstone is a clean racer and he didn’t make it easy. I am excited and relieved,” says Hale of his championship season.

Former USAC Young Automotive Group Sprint champion’s #24 Jim Waters and #36 Ryan Burdett also ended a close season-long battle with Waters coming out ahead of Burdett for the championship.

#9 Kori Combs claimed the 2011 Mini Cup championship, her second in a row. Combs also won Saturday’s Mini Cup main event.

#16 David Baity took the 2011 Hornet championship with just 1 point over #20 Cale Perkins in second and #88 Braxton Sainsbury in third.

Tonight’s winners include: # 41 Michael Haddenham (Maverik Modifieds,) #36 Ryan Burdett (USAC Young Automotive Group Sprints,) #09 Kori Combs (Mini Cups,) #28 Jim Waters (Ford Focus Midgets,) #18 Daniel Calligaro (Hornets.)

Emotions were high on and off the racetrack as spectators came together, with the help of K-Bull 93, to form an enormous human flag commemorating the 10th anniversary of September 11.

ASA Weekly Racing on the America First Credit Union Super Oval will continue on Saturday, September 17 with the Torch 100 featuring Maverik Modifieds (Non-Points Race,) Super Stocks, Ford Focus Midgets, Figure-8 Cars and Western States Equipment Figure-8 Trains. September 17 will be the RMR Holy War, spectators wearing University of Utah or Brigham Young University apparel will receive $5 off admission.
