When Revolution Racing Development Driver Dallas Montes decided to move to North Carolina shortly after high school graduation, he knew his learning behind the wheel of a race car was just beginning. He was right, but he is starting to see the results that he hopes will move him up the Nascar ladder.

"We are gonna run the (Dave Reed) car again at a track where the crate motor is an advantage and I know the car will be capable of winning as long as I am"Dallas Montes

Driving a Dave Reed owned Late Model at Newport Tennessee this past weekend, Montes raced to a 5th and 6th place finish in the twin main events. What made the run even better was the fact he was driving an unfamiliar car on a track he had never seen till the morning of the race. " I can't thank Dave and Steve ( Graham the Crew Chief) enough. With the motor rules we were down to the top 8 or 9 cars, but the car turned so good. Steve had it hooked up," said Dallas. After qualifying mid pack Montes marched forward in both mains and at the end was running with the leaders. It was his first race with Graham and the two seemed to hit it off. "Dallas did all he could do," said Graham. "He took care of the car and got better as each race went on. We thought the built motors would fall off a little more, but it was fairly cool."

While Montes had never seen the 4/10 high banked oval before, he adapted quickly and was the top finishing car with a crate motor. "Some tracks favor the crate motor and some the built, this one was the built," said the 18 year old.

Montes will be back behind the wheel in his normal Revolution Racing Late Model this weekend for twin main events at Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina. "I can't wait. The late model program is getting better each week at Revolution. We have been working hard and I know we will be running for some wins soon. I work full time in the shop so I really see all the talented people at Revolution and I know its a matter of time before the late model side is winning like the K&N East side."

Reed offers top quality cars for rent at affordable prices. "We are gonna run the car again at a track where the crate motor is an advantage and I know the car will be capable of winning as long as I am," said Montes. Graham has some confidence also. "The car is good and from what Dallas has shown me with a little more seat time he will be able to run with anybody."

"I have learned so much this year by running all the different tracks and finishing all the races. Out west in the SRL we were fast at times but had trouble finishing races, but so far back here I have been running at the end of the races and only cracked a couple of right front fenders. I really owe Steve at MMI a lot. I know if it wasn't for him I would not have had these chances," said Dallas.
