TEMECULA, California — The fourth and final round of the Superkarts! USA Mountain Region program – originally set for September 17-18 – has been postponed until the October 15-16 weekend. The event has been moved to the Grand Junction Motor Speedway in Grand Junction, Colorado after originally being set for the Pikes Peak International Raceway facility. The finale will host the seven SKUSA regional categories, and the season championships will be decided following the on-track action.

"September 17-18 event switches location to Grand Junction"

“Our racers and staff enjoyed traveling to the Pikes Peak facility in August and we enjoyed the circuit they have to offer,” commented SKUSA Mountain Regional Director Curt Kistler. “Despite that, we felt it was in the best interest for the series to move the finale to Grand Junction. I would like to thank the Pikes Peak Kart Racing Club for their assistance last month, along with Stacey Cook and the Grand Junction staff for welcoming us back for this weekend. That said, due to unforeseen circumstances, we need to postpone the race at this time, and we are happy to secure the date in October to wrap up the year.”

With the event now a month away, series officials are working on making the finale event a great final race prior to the SKUSA SuperNationals XV in Las Vegas on November 16-20, and are working with a number of racers in Colorado and the surrounding area to help close out the season on a high note. The karting community in Utah is once again being challenged to a “Border War” for the bragging rights and traveling trophy heading into the off season. The staff at GJMS and SKUSA Mountain Region invites all Utah-based SKUSA members and other karters over to participate in the season’s final event.

“The current status of the karting community in Colorado is very scattered,” stated Superkarts! USA President Tom Kutscher. “It’s very disappointing, really. It was once a very strong and popular region, but now you see less involvement in the sport and very little cooperation between tracks and promoters. One of ours goal was to rejuvenate that area with our SKUSA style of karting and provide a solid series for Colorado racers. We’ve had a number of hurdles thrown at us over the last two years, but we remain committed to providing the best program we can for the loyal karters to Superkarts! USA in Colorado.”

Mountain region racers are asked to stay tuned to www.skusamr.com for event details and updates on the series finale as well as the updated registration form.
