HAVASU, Arizona — The Havasu 95 Speedway will officially launch its 2011-2012 ASA winter racing season this Saturday night, September 24th. The quarter mile paved oval, located within the Sara Park Complex in Lake Havasu City-Arizona, will treat its fans to a fully packed evening featuring racing from the Gene Price Motorsports Late Model Series, the ASA Street Stocks, the Factory Stocks as well as the newly created Team Factory Stocks.
"The racing is always exciting and winning the special series' championship invokes some major bragging rights."
The Gene Price Motorsports Late Model River Series is a special points paying series that will be held at the Havasu 95 Speedway as well as the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway located just across the state line in Blythe-California. The racing is always exciting and winning the special series' championship invokes some major bragging rights as well as some lucrative post season awards.
Headquartered in Parker-Arizona, Gene Price Motorsports specializes in race car fabrication and is also considered to be a one stop shopping center for a complete line of high performance racing parts.
For many years now the ASA Street Stocks has been considered to be the core of the Havasu 95 Speedway's winter racing program. The division is loaded with racing talent from both seasoned veterans as well as up and comers. This division is also a fan favorite because many of its drivers reside in the local community and are on a first name basis with many of the fans who pack the speedway's grandstands to cheer them on.
Yet another reason why the grandstands at this speedway are so full is the Factory Stocks. This very affordable entry level into racing features a personnel blend of veterans who have been racing these basic stock cars for years combined with newcomers who are enticed to find out if they have what it takes to be a race car driver. This division completely redefines the old racing adage "racing is rubbing" much to the delight of the fans.
Havasu 95 Speedway Promoter Bill Rozhon is extremely excited about the prospects of his opening night. In a recent interview he said he was very proud that Gene Price Motorsports has returned to sponsor the Late Model River Series programs adding "there has already been a lot of interest in the late model program and we're looking at a minimum of 12 cars plus for our opening show Saturday night. Regarding the ASA Street Stocks, I feel like we're going to have at least 15 cars on hand. I don't feel like we've lost anybody from last season. I'm also certain that everybody is returning to our fan favorite factory stock division with possibly even more teams joining the group. I recently heard about some new cars being built and some guys purchasing cars.
The factory stocks will also be introducing a new racing concept this Saturday night. Explaining his new Team Factory Stocks program, Rozhon said: "each car has a minimum of three drivers One driver has to be a female. The teams will be responsible for their own driving schedule but each one has to drive in at least five races. The concept has gone over really well with our drivers and I'm expecting at least 12 teams Saturday night. This could turn out to be good opportunity for kids who currently do not have a ride. There's even an opportunity for those who have never raced before to get in on the fun. People like crew chiefs, girl friends, brothers and wives could wind up launching a local racing career. I think this new concept will be fun and possibly even open the door for some additional sponsorship programs. I also think that the fans will love it."
The Havasu 95 Speedway opening weekend actually begins on Friday night with a test and tune session for all divisions from 6 to 9 pm. This practice session is free to spectators. On Saturday race day the spectator gates will open at 5 pm with the green flag falling on the front race at 7 pm. It's recommended that fans plan on arriving early, at 5pm, to insure getting a good seat because opening night at the Havasu 95 Speedway has all the makings of becoming a sell out.
