On Saturday at AAS, Jacob Gomes will be seeing double all day and all night, even with his glasses on that he wears when racing. He’ll be seeing two cars, two crew chiefs, two pit crew teams, two uniforms and two primary sponsors as he drives in both the NASCAR K&N Pro West Series ‘Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150’ and in the Spears SRL ‘Thunder Valley Casino Resort 135’.
In the K&N series Jacob will be racing for John and Jonathon Gomez in the #22 Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats, Inc. / Heritage Cattle Chevrolet. When asked about having Gomes back in his car, John Gomez responded “Jonathon and I are excited to have Jacob back in the car. Last year he qualified second in his K&N debut here at AAS. Jacob’s my buddy and he can wheel a car. This year I think he’s going to win, that’s why I came down to see the race!”
Jacob will be lead by his crew chief Craig Raudman in the K&N race. “The chemistry between Raudman and Jacob is good. They’ve been had great practices together and Craig is really excited to be with him at this race”, noted Gomez.
Saturday’s race marks only the third time the 18-year old Gomes has raced in the K&N Series. “I’m really excited to be back in the K&N car. The team has done a great job setting up the car and we definitely have a shot at winning the race”, said Jacob. “I’m glad to have my sponsor Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats on the K&N car this weekend and I’m grateful to John and Jonathon for the opportunity to drive for them again. It should be a great show”.
Jacob will also be piloting the #16 Thunder Valley Casino Resort Chevrolet in the Spears SRL ‘Thunder Valley Casino Resort 135’ prior to the K&N race. “My dad (who’s also Jacob’s crew chief) and team have been working long hours on the SRL car and it shows. We have an awesome race set up”.
“It’s pretty cool to be driving the Thunder Valley car in their sponsored race. I’ve been looking forward to this race weekend all year. I’m ready to pull double duty and hope to get a double win for my team and my sponsors” said an excited Gomes.
