PINE GROVE, California — Two-time All American Speedway champion Matt Scott drove the #35 Kamps Propane / RPM NorCal Chevrolet to a tenth place finish in his NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West debut on Saturday night. The 19-time feature winner at the one-third mile asphalt oval made the most of his first opportunity in the series driving for the Gary Quigley-owned Matt Scott Racing team.

Scott, age 19, finished tenth despite one of the toughest fields in track history and “last-minute” circumstances that allowed him to record only approximately 60 laps of practice total before the start of the TOYOTA / NAPA Auto Parts 150.
“(Finishing in the top-ten) means a lot especially since the car was put together in 13 days,” Scott said.
Before a packed crowd and needing to qualify in on time without any provisionals available, Scott turned a 13.962 second lap around the speed. The lap time was good enough for 14th overall. Scott ran tough amongst a host of series veterans throughout the race, running in the top-15 at all times.
Fighting a tight car, Scott managed to avoid several crashes and stay on the lead lap through a 37 lap green flag run. On the final lap of the race several cars spun with Scott navigating through the smoke to cross the line in the tenth position.
“I knew from watching the races in the past that I just had to keep the fenders on the car,” Scott said. “The car went pretty tight at the end of a run so I just stayed out of trouble and got the finish I was looking for.”

On Friday night, Scott participated in the RPM NorCal / PRS 100 for Late Models which attracted a 26 car field of drivers from all over California. Scott picked up his seventh fast-time of the season but had to start 14th after the inversion.
Scott drove all the way to fifth in the field before being forced up into the wall ending his day prematurely. It was Scott’s first DNF of the season in the Late Models in a very productive season for the 2011 champion.
