ANTELOPE, California — Eric Holmes and the No. 20 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota team brought home their second straight victory of the 2011 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West season and fourth in eight starts at All American Speedway, Bill McAnally Racing’s home track.
"Holmes moves into second in the championship point race with one race left of the season."
The reigning NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Champion Eric Holmes would have liked to make it a wire-to-wire win but Holmes narrowly missed out on starting on the pole by .040 seconds. He had the fastest time until the final driver took to the track.
It was a fierce battle as Holmes contested for the lead and finally took it at lap 31. It would be a back and forth battle with Holmes losing the position at lap 68. With the No. 20 NAPA Toyota Camry’s brake rotors glowing, Holmes patiently waited for his opportunity and regained the lead at lap 140. He held off any challengers to take the checkered before a sold-out crowd. Holmes moves into second in the championship point race with one race left of the season.
“We had a great NAPA Toyota,” he said. “We had to give up the lead there for a little while. We had a little brake issue. But we got it dialed in and saved the car for the end.”
“The NAPA Toyota is in Victory lane two races in a row. I’ve got to thank everybody on the team. It’s great to have Ty Joiner back. The two races we’ve been together this season, we’ve won. That says a lot about his leadership and how well this team works together. We’re really looking forward to Phoenix.”
“Thank you to our fans and our race partner, NAPA AUTO PARTS,” continued Holmes. “We always get great support throughout the year but especially here at All American Speedway. They make it possible for this NAPA team to have the success we have had for more than 20 years.”
