It was another action packed weekend of fun and excitement at Lakeport speedway as the fans where on hand for the final event of the year, and they did not leave hungry or with a lack of excitement. The spooky haunted house handed out like of goodie bags to all the little kids as they made their way through the haunted house, those goodie bag where made donated by Sun Dental, Dr. Keith Long, Lakeside Health Center, Lake County Tribal Health, CHP, Head Start Child Development.
The fans saw returning driver to the 200 lap enduro and making the trip up again from Windsor Jay Cookson was the man to beat from the drop of the green flag and took the checkers ahead of Mike Sullivan, and Sam Cookson.
The new event that was put on at the speedway for the first time appeared to be very big hit with the fans that where on hand to see the 4x4 Rock Sport Challenge race that took place in the infield. There were two different divisions that took place in this with guys competing in the stock division and the modified division. Even with a roll over going over the first rock pile, there was never a dull moment on the track, with the stock division being one by Aaron Davis of Lakeport. The modified division put on a exciting side by side race for the final lap with the victory going to Alex Hardaway of Santa Rosa. Although the rock crawlers where done, the action rolled right over to the front straight away where the final truck derby took place for this year with lots of hard hitting action sending one truck almost over on its side, only to follow it up with the first red flag when a truck did end up on its side. That did not stop the driver that was on his side from saying roll me back over so we can get at it again, and after all the hard hits where done and not many trucks where even running the win went to Ed Riley out of Santa Rosa, with second taken by Ken Cornwell.
Track crew went to make quick work of removing the destroyed trucks to the infield and getting the stage set for the final boat race which was the last event of the year for Lakeport Speedway and its fans. There where fourteen cars that started under the green flag, and when all was done and said there were only four running at the end.
As normal proof that you can’t let a shark out of the water for two long, the Shark Car took the victory of the boat race, but he could not conquer the rock obstical that was placed in the infield, but that did not stop him from getting stuck on it. The Batman took second in this show, not being able to chase down the Shark car and giving all the other drivers a ride home was Dale Preston giving a good show and a third place finish in his Limo.
