Picking Jack Sprague and Brendan Gaughan to post wins at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend would be a good bet, according to betting lines released Monday by Station Casinos.
Sprague, a two-time winner in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at LVMS, has been installed as a 3-1 pick to win Sunday’s Orleans 350. Sprague has two wins and two runner-up finishes in four Las Vegas starts. Scott Riggs (7-2) and teammate Ted Musgrave (9-2) are next on the betting list. Las Vegas residents Brendan Gaughan (8-1) and Kyle Busch (10-1) also are on the list. Veteran driver Willy T. Ribbs is the longest of long shots at 150-1.
For the first time ever, Station Casinos has placed betting lines on a NASCAR Winston West Series race. Gaughan, the series points leader and 2000 champion, is a 2-1 favorite to post his first win ever on LVMS’ superspeedway in the 24 Hour Fitness 150 Saturday night. Riggs, who will make his Winston West debut on Saturday, is 7-2 followed by Mark Reed at 4-1. Gaughan’s teammate Hershel McGriff is the long shot at 55-1.
“We’ve had great response with the Truck races for the past couple of years,” said Micah Roberts, director of the race and sports book at Santa Fe Station. “This is the first time we’ve ever done it for Winston West, but with the race being in Las Vegas, it seemed like an interesting thing to do.”
