MODESTO, California — Two-time Spears Southwest Tour Series championship car owner Bob Strandwold is preparing to compete in the 10-race SRL schedule with four drivers, Michael Sandoval, Craig Raudman, Jared Vorse and Dave Byrd, in part-time and full-time roles.
"I am very pleased to have the 2011 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series Rookie-of-the-Year, Michael Sandoval driving the #1 Sandoval and Sons Backhoe/Bavaro Farms Chevrolet" stated Bob Strandwold. “Michael and crew chief Jeff Strandwold communicated very well together last year in route to their Rookie-of-the-Year title in there own (Sandoval’s) equipment.
2001 NASCAR Southwest Tour champion Craig Raudman will once again be behind the wheel of the familiar black #2 Performance Diesel/Generator Sales Chevrolet. BSR is purchasing a new chassis and hope for delivery sometime in February so Craig can oversee the construction and completion of the new #2 car. Raudman’s SRL driving schedule will be contingent on his commitments and schedule with Heritage Motorsports.
After two years of running his own SRL program, Olympia, Washington’s Jared Vorse will also be driving for BSR in 2012. Vorse will be piloting the #3 Knight Fire Protection Chevrolet. "I am very excited to have Jared as part of our organization," stated Bob Strandwold, "I feel his family (Kelly, Cindy and Tommy) are a great fit for our family here at BSR."
2007 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series champion, Dave Byrd will return to BSR in 2012. Dave will be driving the #5 Olsen Auto Body/Santa Cruz Auto Parts Chevrolet. "Dave and I have been good friends since the late 80's and we were fierce competitors on the track in the 90's during my driving days. Dave drove for BSR in 2006, 2007 and 2008 with a couple of races in 2009. Dave was our driver in 2007, when we both won our first SRL championship. Dave’s last SRL victory was in a BSR car and we hope we can give him that opportunity this year to contend for a win." stated Bob Strandwold.
“We feel Michael and Jared will benefit from the years of experience that we have here at BSR, along with Jeff Strandwold (2007 SWT champion crew chief), Craig Raudman (2001 SWT champion) and Dave Byrd (2007 SWT champion and several local track championships). Our combined efforts as a team and organization should be an asset in helping both of them achieve their respective goals in 2012.”
