After his successful foray into stock car sponsorship last year, Bill Andreetta, the president and owner of Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats, Inc is returning as the primary sponsor of the #16 Toyota driven by Jacob Gomes. “I like Jacob and I like racing, and our loyal fans like Sunnyvalley bacon. We know this because we hear about it all the time at the races. That’s what keeps me coming back to the track every race weekend and that’s why I continue to support our racing family team”, stated Bill. When asked about Sunnyvalley’s sponsorship Gomes responded, “I am so thankful for Bill coming back on board for the whole 2012 SRL season. We made a great team in 2011 and I am looking forward to another winning season with Sunnyvalley on my car”.
Both driver and sponsor are ready to get back at the race track this Saturday, April 7th, for the Spears SRL Tour Series 2012 season opener, the ‘Spears Manufacturing 125’. “I’m really excited about our first race of the season”, said Jacob. “99 Speedway is like a home track for me and I think we have a good shot at winning this race”.
It’s been a busy off-season for the 18-year old driver. In addition to working full time at the family farming operation, Jacob and Gomes Motor Sports formed a team alliance with Joiner Race Cars and was named a lead driver for JRC in both the SRL and NASCAR K&N series. “Working with Junior and Joe at JRC is a great opportunity for me. It’s helped me to gain new connections in the racing world along with the ability to become a better driver. A win at 99 Speedway would be a great way to start off our SRL season with our new JRC car”, commented Jacob.
The team that helped propel Jacob to a second place finish in the SRL championship points last year returns for the 2012 season. Led by his winning crew chief – and dad- Paul Gomes, driver development coach and spotter Mike David, tire specialist Brandon Steadman, Jacob’s Uncle Phil, Tim Hendricks and Dave Edwards – this team is ready to make a run for the championship. When asked what his objectives were for the season Jacob said, “Our team’s goal and my personal goal are to consistently finish in the top 5 and ultimately win the championship title this year. And with the awesome equipment and sponsorships we’re getting this year, I know we can do it”.
Jacob and the Gomes Motor Sports team is sponsored by Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats, Inc; Dell’Osso Family Farm; Perry & Sons; Joiner Race Cars; Pepsi; Sam’s Town; Wrapped Graphics; Casa Mendoza and Valley Petroleum. Follow Jacob on his website www.jacobgomesracing.com and on his Facebook Fan Page.
