Coors Light Open Late Model Series to run 100 laps at Madera Speedway

It will be round two of the Coors Light Open Late Model Series 100-lap race for $1,000 prize money presented Saturday, April 28, 2012, on Gene Adams Paving Night at the Madera Speedway in Madera, CA.

Also featured will be the Hobby Stocks, MSTs, Toyota Sedans and 4-Bangers.

Once the green flag is waved, there will be plenty at stake for the open late models division as the first to cross the checkered flag will get a post-race payout of $1,000.

It was Dallas Montes that claimed the large purse in round one of the series on March 31, 2012 in the Speedway’s opener.

Montes led from the start and withstood a late run by Brian Richardson and Trevor Schlundt. In that race, Schlundt took second in the main while Matt Erickson placed third.

To add to the excitement, there is a $200 and $100 blind draw put up by Coors Light. The race winner will draw two numbers from a cup in victory lane and the first is the $200 draw for that finish position and the second number drawn will be the finish position that gets the $100 bonus. These finish positions will include “B” main cars as well.

There will be two 50-lap mains for the late models while the MSTs and Toyota Sedans divisions are each scheduled for 30-lap races.

It will be a very competitive race for the Toyota Sedans class, which hasn’t had a repeat winner with Jarred Tickel, Donnie Large Jr. and last week’s victor Ed Rodriguez each claiming mains.

Hobby Stock racer Frank Mazzei will try to make it four in a row with 25 laps on tap.

Though Mazzei hasn’t been topped this season, drivers are catching up to him. Ryan Hart has had back-to-back second place finishes and newcomer Nick Silva had a promising start as he took third in his first race on April 21, 2012.

The 4-Bangers are slated for a 15-lap race as well.

Front gate opens at 4 p.m. and opening ceremonies will be at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $13 for seniors and military; $10 for children ages 6-12 while kids 5 and under are free. The family pack (two adults and two kids) is $45.
