ANDERSON, California — Local Modified teams are prepping for this Saturday’s Pop Porter Cup IX and North State Challenge Series season opener event at ASA Member Track Shasta Speedway.
Local driver and Shasta Speedway season opener winner Kyle Borden leads the charge of hometown drivers who will race against visiting North State Challenge Series competitors.
Modified rookie Micah Parmer, Mike Morrison, Jon Vanderpool, Guy Young and Mike Wright have all turned laps during the recent weeks in preparation for this Saturday’s race that honors racing supporter Pop Porter.
Challenge series entries from various Northern California tracks and Oregon are expected this weekend. Also scheduled to race are Shasta Speedway Saturday Night Showdown Bombers, Mini Stocks, Hornets and race one for High School Team Racing.
Pit gates open at 2pm. Grandstands open at 5:15 with racing at 6:45.
Tickets are $10 for adults; kids 12 and under are free.
