BANKS, Oregon — The Sunset Speedway Park is proud to announce the selection of their new addition as Race Director Mr. Russell Voigt. Voigt comes to the Banks venue from the DAA Extreme Northwest Late Model Series presented by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes serving as both race director as well as the flagman. Russ has over twenty years experience in the field of motorsports dating back to the early nineties at the old Portland Speedway. Voigt hopes to bring the same professional attitude and consistency from the series into the weekly program in which he hopes both the car and crowd counts will improve.
May 5th will mark the season opener for the Sunset Speedway Park which will feature the Northwest Wingless Tour, Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, and 4-Bees. The Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series and USAC Ford Focus Midgets will debut on May 12th along with USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4-Bees. The Northwest Wingless Tour will return on May 19th with the PHRA Dwarf Cars also being in action alongside Pure Stocks, Womens, and 4-Bees classifications.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. The venue is located in a gorgeous small town setting with rolling hills in the background and hosts weekly competition with Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, Northwest Wingless Tour, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, Pure Stocks, Womens, and Tracers classes.
