LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The Lucas Oil Modified Series and the SRL Spears Southwest Tour Late Model Series will compete at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night. The evening of speed also will include NASCAR Super Late Models, NASCAR Super Stocks, NASCAR Bombers, USLCI American Band Legend Cars and USLCI Silver State Plumbing Bandoleros. The Lucas Oil Modifieds will compete in a 75-lap feature and the evening’s grand finale will be the SRL Blackjack 121. Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m.
Austin Barnes, winner of the Bullring’s 2011 Open Comp Modified feature, leads the tight Lucas Oil Modified Series point battle ahead of Arizona’s Chris Gerchman and Doug “Hound Dog” Hamm of Las Vegas.
Derek Thorn of Bakersfield, Calif. – winner of the most recent SRL race at the Bullring on Oct. 29, 2011 – currently is third behind M.K. Kanke and Jason Gilbert in the current SRL Spears point standings. Thorn also won the Bullring’s 2011 Open Comp 150 for Super Late Models.
Scott Gafforini of Las Vegas leads the Bullring’s NASCAR Super Late Model point standings after winning two of the three features contested so far in the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Practice and USLCI racing will take place on Friday night.
Fans may save $5 on adult tickets by purchasing them in advance at the LVMS ticket office or online at www.LVMS.com. Adult tickets are $15 in advance (must be purchased by May 11) or $20 at the gate on race day. Discounted tickets for senior citizens and military personnel with ID are $15. Kids tickets are $8 and children ages 5 and under are free.
The Bullring’s concession stand offers a family-friendly menu, including $1 hot dogs and $1 Coca-Cola products.
