BANKS, Oregon — After two consecutive rain outs earlier in the year at the Sunset Speedway Park the Northwest Wingless Tour will makes its third attempt to complete an event there. The touring group has visited the tight cornered bull ring oval on five occasions over the past two years.
In those five visits there have been three different winners with Gary Davis the most decorated driver in NWWT action at the Banks facility winning three straight events last summer. Tony Thomas won the inaugural event in July of 2010 while Mark Nichols claimed victory in the most recent race there on September of last season.
Sunset Speedway Park will host the Northwest Wingless Tour seven more times this year. They will be on hand for three races in the month of June for the 2nd, 9th, and 30th as well as July 14th and August 25th. The two final races will take place in the month of September on the 8th and 29th.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. The venue is located in a gorgeous small town setting with rolling hills in the background and hosts weekly competition with Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, Northwest Wingless Tour, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, Pure Stocks, Womens, and Tracers classes. The Northwest Wingless Tour has been providing fans of Non-Wing Sprint Cars entertainment to tracks through the Pacific Northwest since 2009.
