BANKS, Oregon — After one race in the records for the 2012 season the Sunset Speedway Park will have their second race of the 2012 season on Saturday May 19th. The weather forecast is once again calling for some great weather and should produce a strong field as well as a good crowd.
Classes in action will consist of the Northwest Wingless Tour, PHRA Dwarf Cars, Pure Stocks, Womens, and 4-Bees. Front Gates open up at 3:30 with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 on Saturday night. Admission is the following prices: Adults are $13, Seniors $10, Children (6-12) $5, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (2 Adults and 2 Children) $30.
J.J. Hickle scored his first career NWWT series win at the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington last week while the PHRA Dwarfs have had two events this season already. Henry Corbin III scored the season opener at the Madras Speedway on May 5th while last week at the Cottage Grove Speedway R.J. McGahey was the winner. The only class returning that has raced at SSP this year is the 4-Bees and Johnny Adams led the feature from wire to wire in last Saturday’s feature.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. The venue is located in a gorgeous small town setting with rolling hills in the background and hosts weekly competition with Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, Northwest Wingless Tour, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, Pure Stocks, Womens, and Tracers classes.
