KALISPELL, Montana — Saturday night was full of hard charging racing action in the all divisions during Mikes Hard Lemonade night at the races. During opening ceremonies all of the branches of the Armed Forces were honored for their service to our country.
Tyler Volkman started the night with a trophy dash win in the Hornet Division. Dennis Galloway and Volkman both took the checkers in the B and A heat races. The main event was full of thrills and spills. Kendra Bicknell and Courtney Havens-Anderson battled all evening. Early on in the main the two collided with each other causing Anderson to lose control and hit the front stretch wall, ending her night. Half way through the main event officials decided to throw a challenge to the drivers and have them finish the event running in the opposite direction. This set Tyler Volkman, Keith Sheppard, and Ryan Krause up for a top three shoot out. All three ran close together, but in the end Tyler Volkman capped off his night with the main event win. Sheppard leads the Hornet point chase.
The Montana Raceway Park Bandoleros took to the track for their first race of the season. This class is designed for 8 to 14 year olds and is nationally sanctioned by INEX/US Legend Cars International and is separated into two divisions, Young Guns and Bandits. Isaiah Sickler and Trystian Nelson ran their first laps around the high banks on Saturday. Veteran drivers and brothers, Brock and Bryce Denney set a fast pace during the evenings events. Both of the Denney’s scored hat-tricks in the trophy dash, heat race, and main event for each of their divisions. Brock Denney’s sweep puts him in first place of the overall Bandolero point’s series.
The CHS Legend division also got their season started Saturday. Drivers were eager to get their early model replica Ford and Chevy coupes and sedans on the track. Danny Meier and Trevor Corpron each scored trophy dash wins. Meier edged Dalton Halden for another win in the heat race. In the main event Meier tried to make a clean sweep of the night, but was unable to catch veteran Legend driver Tyler Corpron. Corpron motored to his first win of the season in the Legends. Halden comes out of the Legend opener first in points.
In the second event of the season for the Lucas Oil Super Stocks, Bruce Stinger and Tyler Corpron each gained a trophy dash win. Stinger and Tylor Schweigert took the B and A heat races. In the Super Stocks first race of the season, Brandon Sickler came up short, but this Saturday was different for him. Sickler held off a challenging Stinger to capture his first main event win of the season. Sickler’s win puts him in the first place position in the Lucas Oil point series.
