BAKERSFIELD, California — Austin Reed, will graduate from high school Thursday and while

many of his peers are looking for something to do, Reed knows exactly what he will be doing all summer and beyond. This weekend he is heading to Monroe, LA and Revolution Park Raceway for the Battle on the Bayou Legend Car event featuring six consecutive days of racing June 4-9.

Revolution Park is a 3/8-mile banked concrete oval with 6 degree straightaways and 12 degrees of banking in the corners. The event features a $10,000 purse for the week making this a must see event drawing racers from all across the country.

Reed will join teammate Kyle Beattie for the race. "Kyle (Beattie) called last weekend and wanted to know if I wanted to race the Battle of the Bayou for 6 days," Reed said. "I cant wait, this is a new opportunity for me and 6 straight days of Legends racing will be a great way to get ready for the Summer Shootout!"

After the Battle on the Bayou, Reed and Beattie will head to Charlotte, NC for the Legends Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway starting June 12 running every Tuesday evening through August 21. The highlight of the summer for the 18-year old will be the third annual Big Money "100" July 2-3 at CMS featuring a $100,000 purse. The event will boast some of the fiercest competition among the best grassroots racers from around the globe.

"I had a great time at Charlotte last summer," Reed said. "I learned a lot about what it takes to be competitive. I am excited for the opportunity to race against some of the best in the business and hopefully we can have success."

Reed will work at Fluidyne in Charlotte during the summer handling social media marketing for the company as well as working in the Legend car shop at Beattie Racing.

Reed drives the #14 K&N Filters/Approved Memory Legend car in the USLCI Legend Car Series in regional and national events plus will make select starts in Late Model Stock car competition throughout the rest of the year. Reed recently graduated Frontier High School in Bakersfield, CA with honors and plans to enroll at Cal State Bakersfield in the fall pursuing a degree in engineering.
