Kid’s night this Saturday Evening at MTRWP

KALISPELL, Montana — The thrills and spills continue this Saturday evening at Montana Raceway Park. The first month of racing is in the books and some great point battles are starting to shape up. This weekend will be one of two opportunities for kids to get a ride in a stock car. At half time kids will be allowed to come onto the track and ride with the drivers in their cars.

The Bandoleros will make their second showing of the season on Saturday. In the first race of the season the Denney Brothers dominated the action. Brock and Bryce Denney will be back along with rookies Trystian Nelson and Isiah Sickler. Brock Denney leads the chase over Bryce Denney by four points.

In the CHS Legend division Dalton Halden leads the point coming into the race weekend. Halden will have to stay on top of her driving as veteran driver Tyler Corpron is looking to challenge for the points lead. The Legend drivers will be using this weekend to get geared up for their National Qualifying event, Legend Thunder held on June 30th. Halden leads the points by one point over Danny Meier.

Chris Warburton had some bad luck last weekend in the Flathead Beacon Bomber division, but currently leads the division by one point over Bill McCallum and four points over Josh Norris who sits in second. Warburton has been a strong competitor in the division and plans to keep his points lead. Kelly Dupuis has dominated the two main events that the Bombers have had this season, but has had issues during post race tech. Dupuis sits in sixth place in the point chase.

Fourteen drivers have tried their hand at the Don K Hobby Stocks this season. Veteran driver Ed Linn leads the chase in the division coming into the weekend. This season Ed and his son Cole built cars to compete against each other. The younger Linn is working on getting his bearings in the division, but is doing a good job and having fun. Ed Linn leads the point chase by three points over Ray Young. Young has been a very strong competitor, making the full transition to the division from the Flathead Beacon Bombers. Last weekend Ray had his hands full as his younger brother Jason gave him a run for the win. The points lead and the main event win are both wide open this Saturday.

The Lucas Oil Super Stocks should provide a wide open battle as Brandon Sickler looks to protect his point lead. Sickler will have to keep his defenses up as Bruce Stinger and division rookie Tyler Corpron are right behind him. Scott Lee will make his return to the Lucas Oil Super Stocks after selling his car this winter. Lee could not stay away from the track and purchased a car with Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model driver Bodie Morton. Lee is eager to get back on the track this weekend. Also keep your eyes on Tylor Schweigert, Chuck Swope, and Adam Kinkel, who had a strong showing in the Season Opener, but came up short on May 19th when a night ending crash put him out of the chase. All of these drivers have been strong in the first events of the season and will be a good test against Sickler this weekend.

Saturday night’s events get started at 6pm with time trials and racing begins at 7pm. For up to date information and tickets log onto montanaracewypark.com, call 406-257-7223, or like us on Face Book.
