Repin Wins NASCAR Super Fig 8 at Evergreen

MONROE, Washington — Jake Repin won the 50-lap feature for the NASCAR Super Figure Eights at Evergreen Speedway on Saturday June 2. The feature for the Les Schwab tires NASCAR Street Stocks was first time winner Tim Widener. Main event winner of the Buzz Inn Steak House Stinger 8 division was Josh Young and Jeff Peterson won the Vintage Modified main. V-8 Extreme’s main was won by Doug Delfel. Another god crowd enjoyed the full night of racing at the ‘Super Speedway of the West’.

Repin fought his way through the field from the back to gain his first win of the season. Starting the night as the point leader for the 2012 season championship, Repin gained points on the rest of the field with the win points and the passing points. Getting by Seth Funden after a long side-by-side battle, Repin held off the remaining challengers. Steve Peters finished second after a long race holding back third place finisher Quinton Borreson.

The Street Stock feature winner Widener won his first ever division race. On a late restart Widener was alongside Frank Cowgill and won the turn one battle and went on to win that first race. Cowgill finished second ahead of Jeff Miller. Both Miller and Cowgill were very complimentary on victory stage of Widener and his first win.

There was a spirited race between Jessica Gray and winner Young during the Stinger 8 main. Gray held the lead through the first half of the 30-lap main with Young trying to get by. Once Young made the pass Gray tried valiantly to get back to the lead. Young held on for the win with Gray second and Ben Chandler third.

Vintage Modified winner Peterson survived an opening lap crash that took out three of the top competitors. John Mustered finished a distant second and Robert Rux third.
