
Austin Reed has had a busy summer already having just competed in the Battle on the Bayou at Revolution Park in Monroe, LA all last week. But now hissights are set on the Jack in the Box Summer Shootoutat Charlotte (NC) Motor Speedway where the best of the best in Legend car racing will converge for the 19th addition of the marquee event.

The Jack in the Box Summer Shootout begins tonight at Charlotte and will run every Tuesday evening through August 21. This summer classic brings together the best Legend car drivers from around the globe and racing in the heart of NASCAR provides a significant exposure backdrop for many of these up and coming young race car drivers.
"I am really stoked about the shootout this year," Reed said. "I learned a lot last year and I feel I am much more prepared for what it is going to take to be one of the top cars here."
Reed is coming off a solid performance at Revolution Park last week where he had finishes of 8th, 6th, 3rd, and 6th on consecutive nights of racing. "The Battle on Bayou was fun as we had to be on our game each night," Reed said. "And while we felt good about our car, the track and racing at Charlotte is so much different; we have a whole different set up and mindset. There are literally hundreds of competitors here so you have really good every moment or you miss the show. We feel really good."
New for 2012, Fox Sports South, the Southeast's premier regional sports network, will televise aweekly 30-minute Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series highlight show giving these racers additional exposure. Also on the schedule at Charlotte is he Legends Big Money 100 July 2-3. This event is the largest grassroots race in history will again offer the largest Legend Car and Bandolero purse of the year as drivers do battle on the speedway's frontstretch quarter-mile oval. The event will feature a day of practice on July 1 and two days of racing, culminating in the Legends Big Money 100 on Tuesday July 3.
Reed will work at Fluidyne in Charlotte during the summer handling social media marketing for the company as well as working out of the shop at Beattie Racing, one of the premier Legend Car shops in North America, alongside his crew chief and driver coach Kyle Beattie.
Reed drives the #14 K&N Filters/Approved Memory Legend car in the USLCI Legend Car Series Pro division in regional and national events plus will make select starts in Late Model Stock car competition throughout the rest of the year. Reed recently graduated Frontier High School in Bakersfield, CA with honors and plans to enroll at Cal State Bakersfield in the fall pursuing a degree in engineering.
