West Valley City, Utah-#89 Eric Barlow claimed his first career win in the Focus Midget division at Rocky Mountain Raceways, an ASA Member Track.
" ASA Weekly Racing will continue at Rocky Mountain Raceways on Saturday, June 16 featuring Winged Sprints, Focus Midgets, Hornets, Mini Cups, ISRL Super Sixes. Gates open at 4:00pm, racing starts at 6:00pm. "
Barlow started the race in fifth and quickly made his way to second by lap 5; passing #28 Jim Waters, #88 Guy Sainsbury and #37 Kipp Posey. In lap 9, Waters would overtake Barlow to give chase to race leader #15 Gregg Fuette.
In the last half of the 25-lap main, Waters was able to take the lead with Barlow in second. A caution in lap 17 gave Barlow the opportunity to pass Waters on the low side of the race track; securing his first place finish.
Waters finished in second, Kelly finished in third, #24 Chuck Groat in fourth and Posey rounded out the top five. The Focus Midgets will return to the America First Credit Union Super Oval on Saturday, June 23.
Waters did double duty Saturday night; racing in the Winged Sprints prior to the Focus Midget main. #2 Mel Andrus finished in first, Waters in second, #75 Paul Marconi in third, #56 TJ Thorn in fourth and #5 Chauncey Filler in fifth.
ASA Weekly Racing will continue at Rocky Mountain Raceways on Saturday, June 16 featuring Winged Sprints, Focus Midgets, Hornets, Mini Cups, ISRL Super Sixes. Gates open at 4:00pm, racing starts at 6:00pm.
