Madera Speedways Coors Light Open Late Model points leader Dallas Montes will return to his racing roots this weekend when he climbs behind the wheel of a Spears SRL car for the first time this season.
"I love the Tour and I can't thank Scott Sanchez enough for letting me drive his car this weekend."— Dallas Montes
"I can't wait," said Montes. " I love the Tour and I can't thank Scott Sanchez enough for letting me drive his car this weekend." Montes will be familiar with the surroundings this weekend at Madera as he has raced to one win and three top four finishes at the track in late model action this season. " We didn't plan this race because I have been running up here. It just worked for my schedule. I really like the new surface, but the SRL is a whole different race car."
While the 18 year old has had success in his Smith Motorsports late model this year, he knows he will have to be on his game to run up front." I know I will really have to step it up this weekend. Everyone knows top to bottom this is the best on the west coast as far as drivers go," said Montes who just completed his first year of college. Montes is also bringing along veteran crew chief Marc Lundgren to ensure he has all the pieces in place to battle for the victory. " I have known Marc since I was a little kid and have always looked up to him. He has always helped in anyway he could, but this is the first time he will be my crew chief so I am really looking forward to it. I also need to thank Lynch Oil and Trinity Safety Company for helping me put this deal together." While the MRO 125 is the focus of Montes this weekend, he has some plans for later in the year. " We may run some more SRL and we want to win the points title at Madera, but in a few weeks we will make a big announcement as far as my racing career is concerned. We are still getting some things in place, but we are very close to some good things for Dallas Montes Racing"
Dallas would like to thank all his sponsors including The Bakersfield Jam, Racehard, Lynch Oil, Trinity Safety Company and all his family and friends who support his racing. You can follow him on dallasmontesracing.com or racingwest.com or his twitter @racinshoe17
