
This Saturday Night its Military Night at Western Speedway, all Military personnel with valid ID will be admitted free. Western Speedway is proud to honor the men and women that proudly defend our great country. You will see another faced paced racing experience that will be presented by O’Dell Slinger Service. that will be highlighted by round two of The Keg Steakhouse & Bar Late Model Driver Challenge. The Late Models will run Twin 50 lap Main Events, at the fast 4/10ths paved oval in Langford. In addition to the Late Models, the Island Series Stock Cars, SDL IMS4 Mini Stocks and the Island Dwarf Car Club will also be in action.

After round one of The Keg Late Model Drivers Challenge, Victoria’s Wade Bland leads the point standings with 172 points, there is a three way tie at 168 points for the second position between Rory Smith, Vancouver’s Jason Teresenko and another Victoria driver Gary Smith. Teresenko and Rory Smith were the main event winners at the opening race of the year on May 12th. Darrell Midgley rounds out the top five with 160 points. Rookie Late Model driver Aaron Wilkie sits in sixth position with 152 points.
The Island Series Stock Cars will make their third start of the year with Duncan’s Cody Aumen leading the point’s parade by 26 points over Kyle Cottam 548 to 522 points. Defending Champion Ryan Wade sit is third position with 506 points, Dave Reside holds down fourth with 457 points followed by the top Rookie of The Year Brandon Steen with 444 points.
The SDL Bins Mini Stocks will also be in action for their fourth event of the year, as defending points champion Alex Mouner looks to extend his points lead after winning his second feature in a row last Saturday Night. Mouner has a 56 point lead over Matt Sauzer 548 to 492, Sauzer lost valuable points last weekend as a altercation with another car in the main event, resulted in the loss of several positions. Jeremey Waskel closed to with 9 points of Sauzer, as he holds down third position with 483 points, Justin Woodske moved up one position to fourth with 469, closely followed by Glen Percival with 465 points.
The Island Dwarfs Cars will also see their third event of the year on Saturday Night, Ike Armitage will look to make it three wins in a row at Western this year but can expect tough challenges from Mike Meeres, Dave Emerson, and Mike Shott.
The next event at Western Speedway will be the Weekend of Destruction as there will be two big nights of Demo action on Friday July 13th and Saturday June 14th for the combined Eve of Destruction and the rescheduled Dukes of Hazard Night that will feature Josh “The Crusher” Beckel both nights as he performers another electrifying Car Jump, along with Demo Car and Truck action, Bombers and Mini Figure 8’s.
