BANKS, Oregon — After a successful midweek show on Independence Day the Sunset Speedway Park returns to regular season action on Saturday July 7th. Classes on the card include the Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, USRA Modifieds, Pure Stocks, 4-Bees, PHRA Dwarfs, and Tracers.
For Saturday’s action the front Gates open up at 3:30 with racing scheduled to start at 6:00. Admission is the following prices: Adults are $13, Seniors $10, Children (6-12) $5, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (2 Adults and 2 Children) $30.
The Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series has completed a total of three events with three different winners in the new class. Ricky Ashley and Ariel Biggs won the first two events and Sammy Wright earned the victory in the last race at the beginning of the month during Fan Appreciation Night.
The USRA Modifieds have yet to produce a repeat winner in the current season with Ken Schrader dominating the competition in the latest event. Clint Petty, Sonny Sayre, and Doug Davenport are the only other drivers to get a taste of victory lane as well. The PHRA Dwarfs have completed two events at SSP and have seen two different winners which are Henry Corbin III and Eric Bergquist.
2012 Pure Stock competition Joey Tardio has won two features including the most recent but is also joined by Stan Asanovic and Robert Summerhalder. In the 4-Bees Johnny Adams has won three out of the four races in this season while Mike Mastrangelo has been the only other winner.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway.
