
This weekend Western Speedway will present two big exciting nights of Destruction as Richlock Rentals hosts the Weekend of Destruction presented by O’Dell Slinger Service onFriday July 13th and Saturday July 14th. Friday’s action will be brought to you courtesy of Islandcarbuyer.com and will see a complete Demo Show featuring Demo Cars and Trucks, Mini Figure 8’s and Bombers highlighted by the Dare Devil Josh “The Crusher” Beckel performing a spectacular car jump.
Saturday will the rained out Dukes of Hazard Night combined with the Eve of Destruction to bring you an action packed thrilling Night of Destruction featuring all the regular Demo Classes in action, featuring the Popular Boat Race, Total Destruction, Van Blow Up, The Dukes for Hazard Jump featuring the electrifying Josh “The Crusher” Beckel as he performers another daredevil car jump, Beckel will attempt to smash into a pyramid of cars. The evening will end with a huge Fireworks Show weather permitting.
In fashion with the Dukes of Hazard thyme, there will be a car chase with the General Lee look alike car and a sheriff’s car. What will happen to the General Lee know one knows. As a special promotion anyone dressed up as a Dukes of Hazard character will receive a free ticket to the July 27th Monster Truck Show at Western Speedway.
Advanced Tickets will go on sale the week of the event at the Market on Millstream.
There will be a special Adult only combo ticket for $30, only available at the track the on Friday only.
Ticket prices for Friday Adults $15.00, Seniors/Youth (13-18) $10.00, Military Youth (7-12) $7.00, Family 2 Adults and 4 children $35.00.
Ticket prices for Saturday Adults $22.50, Seniors/Youth (13-18) $20.00, Military Youth (7-12) $12.00, Family 2 Adults and 4 children $55.00.
Early point leader and winner of the first two main event in 2012, Sean Staniforth finds himself tied at the top of the Bomber point standing, Aaron Cameron and Staniforth both have 221 points, closely followed by Tyler Woods with 203 and first time main event winner Morgan Giles moved into the top five with 203 points. BrenDan Moore s and Nanaimo’s Bobby Cyr are tied with 181 points after Moore had electrical problems and finished towards the back at the last event.
The Mini Figure 8 division continues to look like the Young Family Reality TV Show as the young clan still holds four of the top five positions BranDon Young has taken over the top spot with 225 points followed by Cody with 215 and last race points leader Shawn with 217. The odd man out is Sooke’s Kail Beck breaks up the Young stranglehold in fourth with 213 points, James Young who are tied for fifth with 134 points.
Not much has changed points wise in the Demo Car class as Robin Trotter had a ten point lesd over Kirk Peacy going into the last race and came out with a ten point lead after the night was over. Going into the fourth event of the year Trotter 243 points, 10 more than Peacy who has 233. Fan favorite and former champion Joe Liberatore sits in third position with 222 points followed by Cody Young with 211 and Jake Matthews at 129 points
George Haywood continues to lead the point standings in the Demo Truck division over Rookie driver Cody Sadler from Sooke, Haywood leads Sadler 253 to 215, another Sooke driver Doug Richens holds down the third position with 193 points followed by Kenny Baker with 134 and Cam Wilkinson with 128 points.
The next events at Western Speedway will be Saturday July 21st as Richlock Rentals presents The Canada Cup for the popular WILROC Non Winged Sprint Cars. Also in action will be the Island Series Stock Cars, IMS4 Mini Stocks, Island Dwarf Cars and the Hornets on the big track.
The front gates open on Friday at 5:00 pm, qualifying at 6:30 pm and racing at 7:00 pm. On Saturday the front gates open at 4:30 pm, qualifying at 5:30 and racing to start at 6:30.
