FEATHERLITE SOUTHWEST SERIES NOTES:

  • The series is coming off a successful race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where 47 competitors vied for 36 starting positions. Craig Raudman won the race and extended his point lead to 209 over Auggie Vidovich Jr.

  • Craig Raudman of Bakersfield, Calif. has set the record for consecutive Bud Pole awards at five and is fast approaching Lance Hooper's 1995 mark of nine Bud Poles in a season. Raudman has seven Bud Pole Awards this season after setting a new qualifying record at LVMS.

  • Eddy McKean of Jerome, Idaho was the FSWS Rookie-of-the-Race at LVMS. McKean finished 4th to record his third top five finish of the season.

  • Scott Brandt maintains his point lead in the Rookie-of-the-Year race by only one point after a devastating crash at LVMS. Brandt will use his backup car for the remaining events.

  • Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company has posted award tires for all events in 2001, which include 32 tires to be distributed to eligible Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring car owners per event.

June 30, 2001 RACE REVIEW: Craig Raudman won the Bud Pole Award with a time of 18.422 and started the event on the pole. Vidovich would not be challenged throughout the rest of the 150-lap race and went on to win by .200 over a hard-charging Darrell LaMoure.
